Oh.

My.

God.

Nylander is now 193lbs by the way. That puts him a bit heavier than Stamkos. Is he still too small?

- lumlums

yes

Chara is undersized for leaf fans

Yeah...no.

Toews is like 200. Stamkos 195.

Would you trade Nylander for either one of these guys?

How about letting Nylander play a few NHL games first?

people just wanna hate

anyone who thinks a typical prospect should be ready at 18-19 years old is a fool in my books

99% of the time you have to let them become men.. there is the odd 1% who are.. but I am being generous with the 1% i think as well.

What this (frank) do you think this is? We knew Marner and Nylander were bad picks three years ago.

It's curious that they've waited until now, to make Nylander a centre and want to train him now. I hope that he can transition, because we really need a good number one. I fear that he ends up being a number two and that we still have that gaping hole for the foreseeable future.
- PrinceLH

you are aware the leafs time table to compete is a few years away right?

Oh, ok. So if Texiera wasn't made of glass the Yankees would be a better team. Even though the Jays have lost their starting 2nd baseman and Shortstop. Makes sense.
- BetterCallSaul

Pitching wins championships. Tananka and Sabathia were both big loses. Although Sabathia is back, he's not up to speed and may not get there by the playoffs. The Yankees pen is much better then the Jays. It's hard to lose two of your rotation pitchers and stay competitive. Devan Travis wasn't coming back, after his injuries to start the season. Tulo wasn't hitting a ton, but his defense was stellar.

And even those who are physically ready to withstand the NHL have to learn to play and think the game at NHL speed.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go and break the bad news to some Oilers fan... at 195lbs there's no way that McDavid will ever become the 1C that they hope for...

NO

- Dozzer

Agreed! Why waste a year of control on his entry level deal, when you won't be competitive anyway? The Leafs will probably still finish 10th, or around there, but still not get close enough to make a run at the playoffs. It would take Ottawa, Boston and at least one other playoff team, from last year, to make it happen. Not going to to happen!

nylander is already on his ELC

this season is year 2

the only thing keeping him in the minors does is not use up one of his RFA years

but his ELC is still activated

So basically, it takes him longer to get to his UFA years?

How are you, as far as you are, away from reality? Are you explaining to US why you don't think the Leafs will make the playoffs this year?

He's just part of the old guard. He still clings to the belief that the best way to build a team is making sure your team can beat up the opponent. It may return to that one day, but the league is shifting towards speed, skill, and keeping possession of the puck through those attributes. It will remain that way for a while.

Real revelation, I know.
