The Leafs are now top 10 in prospect pools. They cannot keep these mediocre guys taking spots. They added too many players in their system in June. (And 11 more next June).

It's a very good sign they needed to dump these 5.

I'd try and dump Lupul if I can....for obvious reasons.

Bozak has been pretty good this camp..I mean, yeah, I'd keep Bozak.. but Lupul for Zajac would be nice..

If Lupul gets hurt (lol, if) .. who will take his spot on the roster? It would most likely mean someone from the Marlies will get called up.. which I don't think is smart..

for example, Lupul goes down, someone like Boyes or another bottom 6 forward takes his spot..then we'll most likely call up someone from the Marlies to take that person's spot, and I can bet that person would probably be someone like Leivo or Hyman.. and then they'd end up on the bottom 6 when that would be a waste IMO..

I've always liked Leivo, and I've always said if he makes the team or gets called up, he should AT LEAST be given a shot on the second line, rather than the 3rd or 4th.. That's why i was saying, get rid of the problem ASAP (Lupul) to avoid all the bs..

Granberg/Bailey have a combined 14 games, and I wouldn't even consider them as prospects, really.. And Frattin is a good guy to have for the Marlies.

The guy will be a career AHL. Not a bad gig but he's easily tradeable too.

Yep, and it means you can have guys like Boyes and Grabner filling slots on the team for this year so you don't rush a guy like Nylander. Dumping those contracts is part of developing the actual real value prospects patiently.

I know everyone wants half the team traded for all the picks in the coming draft but I don't see that happening with the guys the Leafs signed.

I expect a few picks to be had for guys like Grabner or a decent prospect or two. Maybe package some of these guys with a late pick to get a higher pick. Who knows.
