it's based on age. 18 and 19 years in the AHL are under the slide rule; so they don't burn a year of their elc deal if they play less than 10 nhl games.
rarely seen because generally speaking, most 18 and 19 years are not eligible for the ahl.

While that didn’t happen, it turns out only two of the Rangers, Astros and Angels can finish at 88-74 – the record the Blue Jays would end up with if they lost all nine of their remaining games – because of the trio’s head-to-head games with one another.
The Rangers and Astros play twice more, while the Rangers and Angels have four games left. That means one of the AL West teams must lose 75 games or more.
If two of those teams tied at 88-74, one would win the AL West after a tiebreaker, while the other would claim a wild card along with the Blue Jays or Yankees

And yet not a single sports site (TSN, ESPN, CBS, Yahoo or SPORTSNET) show the Jays clinching anything (even the Wild Card) in the standings... NOT ONE.

How did the team in front play??...Saw 5th goal on Bernier on TSN.. it was junk and should have been stopped..

Weren't too bad to start, really fell apart as game went on I thought. Bernier not really tested early on and when he got some shots they just kept going in. |

I guess Sportsnet isn't confident enough in their article to note the Jays clinching a Wild Card on their standings page. Why is that?
Again, not one sports site has the Jays clinching anything on their standings pages.
Even the Jays' own site says that they haven't clinched...
"The Blue Jays' magic number to clinch a division title is now six. Toronto can also clinch its first postseason berth since 1993 with its next win or the Angels' next loss."
I guess the organization itself has no idea what's going on either.  |
