It's my belief, that this rebuild is not going to last 5 years. I fully expect them to make a run for the playoffs, by next year, the 100th anniversary. This so called free build, may be the ticket. Keep using free agents to get us multiple draft picks and get this team into a position to compete one year from now. It is why we won't see Nylander until late in the season and the Leafs using some of their extra picks to grab another young player, like Columbus did Brandon Saad, that can't fit under the cap of a contender. They just need the assets to pull it off and one more top 5 draft pick and then let the free build take care of the future assets going forward.
