This is another great point to reinforce DDM Coga's post about "stat guys" yesterday. If a player is used against his natural ability by either a stupid coach or due to the injury of another player, all of his numbers go down.
I think the best part about the Franson signing is going to be when GMTM fleeces another team in a trade at next years deadline after he gets a year and a half to pad his stats with us.

I really think the majority of people here expect the Sabres to be in the playoffs in the 2016-17 season.

I think if they can get solid goaltending and figure out the defensive pairings (maybe adding one in the top 2 in the offseason) then next years team should be a nightmare to play against with the speed and scoring this team on paper anyway can do.

This.

The Drury and Briere fiasco is the one that sticks out the most. People want to say we lost our captains for nothing but in reality those two were the two biggest reasons why the Sabres made back to back conference finals.

Totally agree if we're there next year.
My main point though is that we got him at a deal because he was used improperly.
But if Murray was sure he would return to form if used properly, he probably would have added term to his contract.
2 years seems like Murray is waiting for someone to develop in the Minors to eventually take Fransons place.
Playoffs and sniffing the cup in 2017 are 2 different things.
I think he stays with the team if we're THAT good next year.
Either way, we'll see what happens.
