you love to turn these conversations into trading these guys for each other, that's crazier than believing in Corsi
- jimbro83

Well if one player is better than another, you'd be fool to not want to do that trade. Wouldn't you want the better player?

Nice cop out.

But yes, hand-picking charts to suit your point is also a cop-out.

That said, Crosby, Malkin, and Tavares are the 3 best centers in the division.

Exactly, stick to the topic. You can't base one persons play off of a playoff series. If that's the case then Brandon Sutter is the best player in the world. Ryan used stats from the past 2 years, not from a playoff series where the pens had an AHL defense.

I like Stepan and Brassard more than most. But there isn't anyone that would take them above Crosby and Malkin or Tavares and Strome. And you wouldn't either if you're being honest about it.

if I said Rick Nash is one of the top 3 wingers in the division, how quick would you point out his lack of playoff production? (but Brassard's playoff production doesn't matter)

Agreed. The CBJ one is debateable, but they're definitely #3/#4 where comparing them to the 2 best centers of Pit/NYI.

Hell, Crosby, Malkin, and Tavares are usually names thrown around for the best players in the league.

If the conversation was about where he stacks up with other players, I'd say that he's one of the better wingers in the league. If it was about about an upcoming playoff series, then I would talk about his playoff woes.

Jimbro why even bother with this crap? you along with everyone else know that the two Rangers centres aren't as good as the others mentioned ahead of them. You're basing your crap on the playoffs without considering any other factors. The biggest one being its a team sport and the Pens back end was decimated by injuries.

Giroux is very good too. He's great on the PP on his own.

Giroux is one of the better players in the league, but there is a steep drop-off from him to Couturier when it comes to strictly offensive production.

Brassard had 5 points in game 6 vs Tampa and then had wrist surgery when the series was over. But, the Penguins are the only one's with injuries

Right. Duo-wise, Couturier needs to show he has more offensive upside for me to consider him a good 2C. He can probably fill that role but ideally the team would have more production out of him. Better deployment should help.

And fleury had more shutouts than lundqvist, so he's better

Fleury was definitely not the reason the Penguins lost to the Rangers in 5, I guarantee you that. It was probably mostly due to the lack of production from the number 1 center duo of the Metro division.

Another fantastic redirect.

Crosby and Malkin are the best combination of centers in the division. I really don't see how this can realistically be contested.

Crosby had 4 pts in the series just like Brassard and Malkin was playing hurt. You can go back to the Scum Rags board now where logical inconsistency is accepted.
