What about Forsberg. He played in the dead puck era. And was a day and night better 2 way player then Mario and Wayne.
Can't do what ifs.....

- Bieksa#3

The debate was on talent. That's what I was referring to as well. Mario was clearly the better of the 2. Forster definitely was great as well and I liked that we was a two way guy.... like kesler is. But no one can challenge Marios goal scoring. The best there ever was.

Nope. Hands down Bossy was the best pure goal scorer ever. It's not even up for debate.

Top forward ever Gretzky. Ppg leader. More assists then anyone has points. Played with his share of back problems too.

Orr best dman, arguably best player ever. Faster then Gretz and Mario, could kill penalties which neither Gretz or Mario could do. PP quarter back and could and did fight. Numerous vids of him killing a penalty pretty much by himself and then getting a short handed goal to boot.
Wreckless abandon caused him to have blown up knees and still played light years ahead of anyone else at the time.

Mario was a remarkable player, no doubt.
In top 3 of all time, 3rd to be exact.

If you think Mario is more talented or a better player then Orr or Gretzky then you are not old enough to form a valid opinion.

Does it have to be one of the other? The only reason the economy and environment are pitted against each other is because politicians have framed it that way. You can still get rich, have sound fiscal policy, and protect the environment. Or we can say fck it, suck the land dry and see how the economy looks then.

This I agree with.

Virtanen and McCann will be sent back to junior this year, and really there's nothing wrong with that as they're both 19 years old...don't rush them. Truthfully McCann is way more ready than Jake is.

Gaunce is good, which I wouldn't have said before I saw him this spring, he deserves a shot as he's put some development time in down at the AHL level....and it shows.

This year I think they've committed to Vey as a show me year. If he doesn't do something noteworthy this year he'll be moved early in the New Year, along with a vet.

I could see Gaunce, Grenier, Shinkaruk and Jensen all getting some games in this year. Although Shinkaruk could get traded in a package if his development stalls.

- LeftCoaster

I think Shinkaruk will get traded regardless. He isn't Benning's type of player and wasn't his draft pick. As soon as he can get the value he wants in return he'll be gone.

So fck it then?

I don't agree, or I don't want to agree. Public opinion is still a thing and a pretty powerful one at that. As much as all the politicians hem and haw and declare they stand for this or against that, they basically just want to get reelected and if we make enough noise they'll hear. And if it becomes a hinge issue they'll act. It's not like this is the first election where we are choosing between a puppet, a mannequin and a ventriloquist's dummy. We just need to get off our asses and start pulling the strings. In the end they'll do what we want if enough of us demand it, otherwise they'll get voted out and have to start working for a living. That's democracy, and as easy as it is to become cynical, it's more or less the same as it has always been.

Naive optimistic rant over.

To many people around here haven given up on Vey. I admit I'm not a fan, but ggive him another yr or 2.
- Bieksa#3

Agreed. He's far too young to give up on. Needs to put in a stronger and more consistent effort this season.

Man, I've done so much of that I need to rehydrate...

Still, I like to think of myself as being one of the less Richardish Leafers.... At the worst, we at least share a timezone

Until you realize you're actually on fire.

I got married down there last summer and will be back. We're out of Napa wine, must restock.

I'm in the process of deciding which wine club I want to join (and how often I want to be blitzed: Being a Leafs fan I may have to opt for daily delivery!)...
