Don't get where people are saying Marner was good last night, he was virtually invisible. The two best forwards were Holland and Nylander.
- LeafMan

nice on the forecheck to force the turnover on the Nylander goal.

I don't get why you constantly defend a guy...Gardiner is just not that great. Franson has some good #'s too...I don't see you defending him to the grave?

When Gardiner drops the puck and runs to avoid a hit...is constantly out of position and isn't that great offensively?

I havent watched this year ( so going off his Leafs days so far )

I'm hoping he has a great year and proves me wrong

Polak's ok...I've never said he's got great skill...but he can play a role and isn't afraid to do some of the little things.

- Garnie

the Hate he gets is over the top imo. was the same for Franson, not nearly as bad as he was made out to be, but its just get trumpeted over and over.

Polak is meh.. ok bottom pairing if he is not asked to do much..
I am really interested in seeing how MB uses him

I remember last year I thought Leivo played well enough to make the team. Shows what the new blood thinks of him to cut him loose

Komarov was good as well. I thought Leivo was really good along the boards but it seems they have predetermined to play the PTO's ahead of their own picks.

Add assets, let the younger guys build chemistry with eachother.

I'm OK with it.

...Nylander might make it hard on them to send him down.

He's nit even remotely close. He can't keep up. Babcock wants up tempo, need to be able to skate.

I wanted him to stand out but the truth is, he didn't.

Both Bibeau and Sparks did really well.

i think his PTO was just LL Cool J giving him a chance to show off what he has left so he could possibly land a job in a Euro-League

I think it's more about the situation of playing with a good AHL team all year, or a bad NHL team. I would not want him around the team if they revert to how they played down the stretch last year.

too many guys around here were treating him like he was on McDavid's level.. he isnt anywhere close to that.

I thought last sept we would see Leivo on the leafs part way through and a reg by now.. No so much.. he was quickly pushed down the depth charts with all the new (young) blood

As I said earlier..... You can see the skill, the vision. He looked like an 18 year old with abundant skill that isn't really ready for the pro game yet.

As you said that's fine at this point. Let him go dominate junior.... Led Canada at wjc.

I agree with Polak..he moves good for a big man ( which helps him in fans eyes..can hit/blocks shots...sure he's meh but...he can play a role)

To be honest if Gardiner would keep his feet moving once he retrieves the puck in our zone...he'd be way better off....I find he gets to the puck and then shuts down the feet and the other team just man handles him...I'm hard on Gards because I see all the "oh my gerd he's such a good skater" but in fact he's not a good D - he's like EK without the offense - maybe MB will be able to get him going..we will find out soon enough.
