If Hakstol holds with combos at morning skate, this is tonight's lineup:
Gagner - Couturier - Simmonds
Umberger - Laughton - Schenn
Palushaj - Cousins - Konecny
Rosehill - Brent - McDonald
Streit-Schultz
Provorov-Medvedev
Sanheim-Gostisbehere
Mason
- bmeltzer[Knapp]
Extra forward: Martel (mixed in, possible he's in and Rosehill out)
Schenn hasn't seen any work at center so far in camp/preseason, so is it fair to say that he'll be (primarily) a winger this year?
I wouldn't be surprised if Laughton stuck to start the season. Not sure how the numbers game would work out, but I would think that he's got a good shot. That would definitely help take some of the defensive zone starts away from Couts.

Klefblom was given his extension at age 22 with one year left on his ELC.
Next summer Ghost will be 23 and will have one year left on his ELC. - Feanor
And if Ghost comes in and put up modest points over the better part of the season, I suppose we'll have to sign him to a 7-year $4M+ extension. |

Initial over reaction. He's pleased with the Laughton Schenn pairing and wants to see them with a more realistic line mate in umberger who has also showed up. |

Actually, egg on LA's face. They ended up drafting him with the pick from the Richards' trade. They clearly can't evaluate talent. |

One of Umberger, Schenn, Gagner or VL is going to either play on the 4th line or sit. Could be two of them if Laughton cracks the top 9.
To be honest, I don't hate the idea of a PEB-Laughton-Schenn line even if it is recognized as a "4th" line. Laughton and PEB will get plenty of PK time and Schenn should get 2nd unit PP time |

so much for the Morin/Ghost pairing from camp. They didn't play together last night either, did they?
Any word on the Rangers lineup?
I wonder how quickly the Flyers will start making cuts. - funmaster18
Last night was AMac and Gudas, Morin and Pyett, Ghost and Hagg, I believe.

Besides "they need bodies for split-squad preseason games", I don't understand why certain players get to play in the preseason. there are certain players, such as Rosehill, Drewiske, Mathers, Martel, Palushaj, and Pyett that will not make the opening night roster barring injuries and/or a sudden rush of magical talent elixer. So why are those guys playing in place of guys like Alt and Sanheim who have at least an outside shot of making it? |

First of all, Drewiske is really the only player competing with Alt and Sanheim. I think for the most part, they want to see some of the kids in pre season to give them a little taste. I just hope they pair down the roster quickly, and get close to the roster that is going to make the team, and get them up and going. Need to get off to a quick start.
