I think he and Ghost make for an awkward pairing. Both like jumping up in the play and both have looked real tentative in that regard
- PhillySportsGuy

Agreed. Provorov has looked his age at times but he looks way more comfortable in NZ and DZ compared to those two (not that he's been great)

Ghost will be sheltered when he gets to the NHL, but Ghost will score.

Jeez, how many times are we going to say "Konecny to Gostisbehere" over the next ten years?

I'm absolutely correct. He was floating around. He was the beneficiary of strong work by his teammates, and porous D coverage.

Whatevs. We've been agreeing too much anyway so now all is right in the universe again

No problem. I want Gagner to do well. And you're right on his goal, he wasn't just floating. He wasn't doing the dirty work of Simmer and Coots but he read it well and got some shots off. I just really want to see more from him after watching him through 5 periods. He's not generating nearly enough.
- Mononoke

He's never been a generator with the puck, though -- he's a one-touch passer, a guy who finds holes, thinks the game well but the criticisms that follow him around are being voiced tonight

His skill level is high but you can't play like that, one end of the rink, anymore, especially if you can't skate well enough to take guys off the rush or draw guys to you

No final judgments from me, because I haven't even seen him in a Flyers uniform. But I was hoping not to see these comments, and they are coming from different posters who view the games differently

It helps to play with MDV. I think all of the young defenseman are ticketed for the WHL/AHL to start.

Gagner looks like he will work if he thinks there is an opportunity to have the puck/shoot.
But when it comes to work without the puck...meh.

And that's where they should be -- the Flyers have enough NHL defensemen to compete without rushing the kids

I'm getting that vibe a bit too. Briere was a guy that started falling into that mindset towards the end too.

It's pre season, so hopefully his game ramps up in the regular season. It's obvious he has puck skills, but how can the Flyers have Lecavalier and Gagner in the lineup, if that's how he's going to play. Can't have two players in the lineup who only have value when the puck is on their stick.

Flyers are desperate for a right handed playmaker so he's a welcomed addition at that salary and term.

40 points and decent possession numbers is what I'm hoping for. I think he'll help the 2nd PP unit as well.

My biggest fear for guys who played for horrible organizations is that the bad habits they pick up are hard to break

You noticed that huh? All of a sudden when he saw the opportunity, he moved his feet to get to the far post.

I think he can definitely help the 2nd PP unit, on that half wall. Along with Medvedev at the point.

Yeah but too often people fall in love with guys who work really really hard, where it's easy to see how much energy they're expending but who never really have much to show for their efforts. And yes, we need some of these guys but we haven't exactly won a cup lately with a whole team of them. Maybe we need a guy who finds those holes and buries those pucks. As long as he's not a Daigle I can accept him gliding a little.

I didn't really expect any of them to make the team. They already have 7 NHL defenseman and 8 on one-way contracts. I'm expecting them to start trickling in near the end of this season and next season.

If he doesn't get caved in defensively...man. I don't know. Like I said, I haven't even him yet. Just have this feeling his leash is short

Oh, Good Lord, no. Wheels and Gagner in the same lineup, in the regular season? This board would be on fire within a week

Yeah, not the best comparison. He dies work hard and he's oretty sound defensively.

The offence never seems to come, though.

Totally agree...depending on where they are at the TDL, could see one of them getting a call for those final 20-ish games if one of the vets gets moved

We'll see what his numbers look like through a handful of games. Hard to really gauge anything in the preseason.
