Holy poop...playing NHL16 GM mode. 11 games in and Nashville offered me 2nd round pick for AMAC and a week later a 3rd for Vinny. Dreams do come true ....in NHL16

Wasn't #36 retired? If not it should be because my mind cannot stop thinking Rinaldo is out there

I like to think it is AMac's way of telling his haters to go screw themselves...

Yeah, that was a cheap little slash.

Couple of 1st period observations:
Gagner has some skill but is incredibly easy to push off the puck

Konecny is gonna be a good one

Medvedev is looking more and more like our best Dman

And to top it off we got Konecny from the Leafs pick.

Smattering of thoughts from 1st period:

-Cousins is faster than I remember from last season. He's playing chippy and showing good work getting around guys and being tenacious on the puck.

-Gagner has done nothing to change my mind from last night's game. He has shown some nice passes and obviously has good hands (will be nice on the Giroux position on PP2), but all in all he has been not too good. Slow, indecisive, weak on the boards, turnover prone -- puck hits his stick and often ends up going the other way.

-Schenn has been a non factor. Laughton has been more noticeable -- he's showing good two way work and playing solid w/ his fantastic skating.

-Simmer and Coots are playing well individually and together -- usual selfs. Nothing amazing but just very solid. Coots w/ nice tape to tape passes and board work. Maybe moving his feet a bit more but puck skating opportunities haven't been there. I'd honestly like to see them apart from Gagner. He's been a negative on them.

-Ghost, Provy, and Sanheim have all been very hit or miss, specifically defensively -- all of them. Now, when the puck gets in the O zone, they look fantastic. All had great work done on the powerplay with cycles, shots, and set ups. Especially Ghost and Provy. Provy looks slightly less outmatched in NZ and DZ than the other two.

-Medvedev could change the state of this defense on 5v5 and 5v4. He looks that solid. Every zone. Passes are crisp; vision is excellent in transition. Great shot, great instincts.

-And Travis Konecny. Do we have to wait another year to see this kid? Jesus. It doesn't matter who he plays w/, he's the focal point of everything. Hitting, puck retrieval, skating through guys, subtle passes, and a wicked quick release on his shot.

One thing I see about Konecny. When you have that combination of skill and fire, lack of size simply doesn't matter one iota.

Did you see that play Medvedev made at the end of period. He was skating behind the net into trouble, stopped on a dime pivoted, and moved the puck D to D to get out of a potential jam.

He has no panic. Every d man makes mistakes or gets into trouble -- good ones don't get flustered. He is not just an offensive d man; he has the two way game down.

I want to see a shift w/ Konecny---Coots---Simmer just so I can imagine what could be.

Yep, very poised. He had one play where he took a bad angle and gave up a good shot, but that's just adjusting to the new rink. He looks very good, and looks like a top defenseman.

Thanks for the update haven't watched much of the first two games. I expected a lot from provy but it sounds like konecky is stealing the show so far. What I've seen before is that the d will take longer and sometimes a young forward can surprise.

Yeah I noticed that. That was a turnover last year 85% of the time.
