I personally don't see either deal as magic. Rinaldo is an NHL player. A 3rd round pick is not very likely to turn into an NHL player.

I don't think it has anything to do with greed. He's made like a 100M in his career. It's simply about wanting to continue to play. I'll never question Lecavalier's integrity. I don't think he would fake an injury.

On the surface, yes, but when you consider the silliness they've perpetuated since he's on LTIR still under player contract yet an employee of the NHL at the same time they really didn't have a choice but to allow it.

True. The magic part was that he convinced another GM to take him as he's barely an NHL player, and has a terrible reputation to boot.
