Seems to me the kids that have no shot at making the team played the best...Why would Panek give 100% when he knows someone like Brown/Lipsic wont get his spot.. - Fruitcakenipple
exactly. a guy like Panik... he knows he's not going to be judged by what he does in the preseason so like any veteran, he is going to (frank) right off until the regular season starts.

now he his is a pro scout out west for the Leafs. seems like a tough gig. pull in the pay cheques while watching the Kings or Ducks play every other week. Then he can go back to Shanahan and let him know that the likes of Perry, Getzlaf, Kopitar and Doughty are pretty good players.

The level of nepotism in the league is staggering. Still can't believe Lou Lams kid had been working in the Jersey organization since he was 22...

Also it's Panik. The book on him his entire career is being consistently inconsistent. A less talented Andrei Kostitsyn.
Leafs lunch guys suggested scratching him last night was to shut down the media from getting on about his chances of making the team - Big_Lightnin
Marner is that good, that he has already earned himself a spot on the team - Babcock now wants to play the other guys to see which player falls off of roster to make room for Marner

I was impressed with Leipsic. Kid is a puck hound. 3rd liner ceiling likley but he was all over the pick. Was 3rd period before I even realized Panik was on that line. He was invisible much of the night.
Panik is invisible 99% of the time - walshyleafsfan
I thought Brown had a decent game. showed some good patience and ability to find open guys...likely would have had 1 or 2 primary A's but his problem was he kept finding Bozak in the slot...also had a real good look once but got robbed by hammond.

What did u see that was so hilarious? I thought he looked good, seemed a bit nervous(young mistakes) but i liked what i saw - coolehmon41
Same thing as in the rookie tournament. I only noticed him 3 times, once he made a nice pass to spring someone (forget who). The other two times, he looks lost in his own end, I mean literally lost, like he is not sure where he should be, or where he is, or what team he is on.
I wonder if he is the forward version of Jake Gardiner... all the tools, but no tool box.

I watched the game in Ottawa (at home). Lupus, Kadri, Timashov, Dion and Kapanen had decent games.
