Holy knee jerk. I didn't say his development progression, I meant how and where he is being used. He wasn't able to play his way past a lot of players on TB yet and I thought he'd be steady top 6 by now is all.

Kucherov, Johnson, Palat

were all outstanding last season. Couldnt really get Drouin in there..

He's 20 years old. What has JVR proven?
- ThePresident

That he will be a top 6 forward for a long time...and 1 more season is not going to affect that.

Absolutely, he was in a rough spot. I know they like Callahan on Stamkos' wing but I think they might be pleasantly surprised to have Drouin there (considering they basically made the K-J-P line #1).

Before he played with Kessel, he was a 30 point player. When it's all said and done, Drouin will be the better player. If you were ever going to trade JVR, now would be the time when his trade value would be at its highest....given our rebuilding mode.

You answered nothing. Drouin has not even made it to the NHL yet.. He played 2 games or so in the playoffs last year.

you put Drouin on the Leafs, even put him in JVR's slot, I think JVR would get more points comparatively...without Kessel....IMO

This clean shaven policy of Uncle Lou's is messing with my head.

Polak looks (frank)ing weird with a babyface!

He played 70 games in the NHL last year, had 32 points...in his first NHL season. Not bad for a 19 year old 3rd overall pick. Remind yourself, he's not supposed to be Connor McDavid or Sidney Crosby...he's not a generational talent like those two, not supposed to be a ppg player right out of the gate. He had a pretty standard rookie season for a 3rd overall, like I said....JVR basically took 5 seasons to break 40 points, and he was 2nd overall. Do I see him being a ppg player, yes. Do I see JVR being a ppg player, no.

in this scenario? if i'm Toronto, yes. makes sense to add another top-3 pick for a guy who has plateaued. for Tampa it's lunacy given their contract situation over the next 2-3 years.

I'll even reverse it......put JVR on the Bolts in place of Drouin, and JVR will score more points than Drouin.

I would not do the trade straight up

Well he played with Mac in Halifax during his Jr career. Never even came close to doing what MacKinnon did. Don't see him having a long career in this league.

i think Drouin will end up being a solid 65ish point guy.

Of course he would, because JVR is a 26 year old fully developed player going into his 7th season. Is that really a comparison you're trying to make? I'm not saying JVR sucks, but he has reached his ceiling with the Leafs. Drouin has a higher ceiling, and is only 20 years old going into his 2nd season.
