I think Brown is one of the kids you can afford to give the 9 game trial to if he forces his way on to the team. But that goes against the supposed team mandate of not bringing up prospects until they can contribute full time.

and putting him on the top line for 9 games where he's been slotted in camp would be odd and hamper the top line chemistry at the start of the reg season...lines change throughout the season especially due to injury (Lupul), but I would think that you'd want your top line intact from the beginning if possible...

But you don't put guys like that in the bottom 6either. That's why they most likely are still going to be marlies...... Are they truly ready for a top 6 role in the nhl full time? Is there room in the top 6 for them?

I think they start in the ahl and after some of the space is cleared up at the deadline they will start to get their chance.

I think a couple of kids will surprise us all this year. Not sure they will stick with the team all year, but we have to look forward. Better days a head.

Bringing in star power much sooner than the fans are led to believe.

There have been no rumours lately about the actual moves the leafs are making. This group oppertates more sercritively than in the past.

With Lou as the GM, I don't think we'll hear too many rumors on the Leafs.

Brown is an AHLer. his ELC is already running. the 10-game limit is only for players with junior eligibility. they can yo-yo Brown between AHL/NHL as much as they want. with a guy who has already played a year pro, there is less worry about exposing him too soon.

Babcock/Dubas mantra has been that nobody will be up until they are ready to stick all year though.

I'm fully expecting the preseason to be more interesting than the regular season...

How? Press boxing new signings?

or have we assumed that Grabner and Lups are going to be hurt in pre-season (45% chance)

Ya I wasn't sure why they were saying 9games for Brown. Guy is also 21 yrs old.

sometimes with those guys, i think it's good to bring them up for 15-20 games at some point. they sink or swim but it's a win-win because even if they sink, you get a good read on where they are in their development and which parts of their game are NHL level and which aren't.

I hope Brown has a huge season with the Marlies, but gets the odd call up with the Leafs if injury.
