Vancouver, B.C. –Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the Canucks have reduced their pre-season roster by three players.

The following players have been assigned to their junior clubs:

Tate Olson Defence Prince George WHL
Carl Neill Defence Sherbrooke QMJHL
Kyle Pettit Centre Erie OHL

Expected this to happen. Pettit did not have a good tournament in Penticton.

Ya - they're invested in him as of right now and the other guys could use a bit more time. Cassels can play in the AHL this year to adjust to the pro game and McCann can go back to junior to get bigger and stronger plus hopefully experience the World Junior Tournament.

Seeing clubs are going to have about 15 games a year now of OT, will teams draft specialists ?

Reason being, if you're not allowed to play as a 16 year old, when you should be playing Midget AAA, then when you play as a 19 year old in Major Junior you don't feel like you've been there forever.

Four years of Major Junior is too many years IMO as I feel the better players don't really develop as much as they would if they played against men.

Management will give Vey every opportunity over Cassels/McCan at this point I feel.
