My guess 1st PP unit

Risto/Franson
Kane/ROR/Ennis

2nd PP unit

Carlo/Pysyk
Eichel/Girgs/Reinhart

Looks good!

I've been vocal from the outset that I didn't like the idea of signing Franson. He's slow and a liability in his own zone and is essentially a PP specialist. We didn't need a RD and I would have preferred going into camp with the D we have and possibly pick someone up on waivers/trade before the start of the season. Although my opinion on that hasn't changed much I'm ok with the contract he signed. If McCabe and/or Guhle impress at camp, we have a logjam on D.

I know people keep bringing up guhle. But I can't see him staying. It's too bad he can't go to roch. Unless there are some injuries and they let him play 9 games or something.

To me it seems like it's a numbers game and there are too many guys ahead of him. I think the Sabres really wanna see what they have in him but most likely he goes back to junior.

They won't even bring up McCabe, so I don't know why anyone thinks an 18 year old Dman will be here ahead of him. Maybe in 3 years.

But they weren't playing the same competition. I'm not sure how you came up with that conclusion.

Phaneuf faced the tougher comp. and it wasn't really close relative to his teammates

- sbroads24

Franson isn't even on that list because he is on the nashville page. That has Phaneuf at .2 QOC, Franson is at a flat zero, which is a negligible difference

Kaleta would be valuable on this team....penalty kill...someone to watch the young guys back.....and when he actually plays with talented players he can chip in a goal or 2

NO! His stupid antics don't belong on this team. He'd be on IR most of the season anyways.

If he can prove that he can still contribute, stay healthy, and not do anything stupid, I'd have no problem with it. But that's a lot of "if"s, and it's really a longshot. I love his heart and dedication, but he's going to need more than that to make the team.

To be honest, with McCormick's health uncertainty, I think Kaleta earns a contract and spot with the big club as 13th/14th forward.

The thing I find so dissappontimg is he plays hard he gives effort yet so many are willing to part ways . Effort goes a long way . I understand he isn't the best but sometimes effort out weighs that . Would you step imfront of a shot going 90+ ?

its a numbers game and kaleta is the oddman out. Body checking, effort and irritating people are not enough to put him ahead of players like.

Let's get this straight, Kaleta Should make the squad because he's the one we want on IR?? I can't believe anyone is actually suggesting we should put ANYONE on the team because he's a guy we would prefer to NOT have playing.

You don't need 14 forwards and Kaleta doesn't belong here. The 4th line forwards will consist of Legwand, Foligno, Deslauriers and Larsson. With the trades getting both McGinn and Legwand sealed Kaleta's fate here. And if McCormick was healthy, Kaleta wouldn't even have signed a PTO.

I probably like Kaletta more than just about anyone here but "valuable" is a strong word. Could he play on the 4th line and be serviceable if several guys get hit by a bus? Sure. The only way he gets a sniff is if there is an epic injury bug. All of the guys listed in the other posts are way more valuable (and flat-out better).

I've waited for years for him to change and after last season I'm convinced he can't. He IR's himself by being wild and reckless.

Kaletta isn't making the Sabres roster, too many players better than him, no worries there.
His place is in Rochester where his dedication and hard work will make him a good influence on the younger guys. We will read about it in February.

What can he teach them? How to be targeted by the officials? No matter how borderline, he's called. Maybe coaching is partly to blame. He should have been reeled in long ago. He can skate, an excellent PK'r and a decent shot. He should have been steered more into that direction.
