Contracts being what they are, I don't think Babcock can do much if guys like Phaneuf and Lupul mail it in. If he even thinks about sitting those guys, there goes their trade value. Ultimately, players with those no move clauses still have the power.

I don't see Phaneuf mailing it it... although I understand what you are saying. If anything - Phaneuf should be more motivated this year than ever before with the Leafs. He would seem to have Babcock in his corner - or at least what we hear leads us to believe this. If he's fed up with being bad-mouthed by the media about his "lack of leadership" then this is he opportunity to correct this. Genuinely think he was one of few guys who was pretty consistently trying during the 2nd half of last season - the injury didn't help. He must be "happy is the wrong word" but relieved that Kessel's influence in the locker room is gone.

Lupul on the other hand... whether he mails it in or not.. who knows. He plays so infrequently ...

yes, write beside the name what you think will happen with that player. If you think he won't make it, write "cut", "CHL" Marlies or AHL" "ECHL", if you think he does, goals, assists, points
