Finn was behind Percy, Harrington, Brennan, Granberg, Loov, Valiev and even Nilsson on the Marlies depth chart and that's not including the guys who are currently playing for the leafs or guys like Dermott in junior who will make it long before him. Finn was never going to play for the Leafs.

To be honest its not really a big deal either way. We got a bunch of castoffs for some cap flex and you guys got a decent NHL player in return that you can either resign of flip at the deadline for a little something something

The guys they traded were so far down on the depth chart that they were never going to play in the NHL so they free up roster spots for guys who could play this year to give their young guys a chance to develop and then trade them for picks so they can have a shot at getting more solid prospects for the future. Everyone is upset about Finn but he was their 8th best pro D not in the NHL and looked terrible at the prospect tourney.

all of those guys are were in numerous sites that look at advanced stats and said they were in the the Leafs top 25 under 25. They have 0 knowledge of what they might get down the road. including the possibility they get nothing down the road.
