Kane is going to be at Blackhawks camp. (frank)ing absurd. - PLindbergh31
There's no evidence he has done anything wrong, just allegations. Maybe he did it, maybe he didn't. No one knows the truth except him and the girl in question and both are not talking. He hasn't been charged and unless that changes he should go about his business. |

If we didn't have so much cap tied up in Vinny, RJ and AMac I would've lined up to pay that price for Kessel. Pens got themselves a a good deal there. - hereticpride
Okay take those 3 off the cap. Now you have 14 million in extra cap. So let's go out and get a guy for 7 million a year. What does he bring to the table? On Crosby wing Kessel could break out for a tune of something like 40/25/65. In a strictly offensive role with little to be offered defensively. Okay so now say raffl who can score 20 at even strength only plays some PP first or 2nd unit doesn't matter and plays 82 games at top line left wing. Would it be fair to say he nets a 25/20/45 comparison. At what does he make 1.5 ? If even?
Now keep in mind Mason is going to want a new deal suspecting he has another big season and flyers will have to give it to him he's taken our goaltending out of nhl purgatory. Seeing the goaltenders with his stats expect 6.5 a year. Now add in new deals for guys like Schenn raffl. And the eventual extensions for our d prospects. There just isn't any way I want Kessel on this team at 7 a year.. highly skilled player but no thanks. He doesn't get us a championship |

Did you see what your boy Darren Dregger said? "No reason to think Kane won't participate."
Not one single reason? Amazing. |

It's an on-going investigation that is going to the grand jury. He shouldn't be allowed to participate in any NHL function until he's been exonerated. |

Answering the same questions about the allegations OVER AND OVER AND OVER again is going to wear that team out. |

Could the NHL or the Hawks suspend him? The NHLPA would likely have a say.
When Kobe Bryant was accused of sexual assault, I believe he was out because of injury, no? |

Yes, his knee was hurt but his penis was fully healthy. |

If I were them, I'd tell him to stay home and still pay him. As a teammate, how do you embrace someone who may have sexually assaulted another person? |

I'm sure they could. If he was Bryan Bickell or someone like that I doubt he would be attending camp. |

Innocent until proven guilty. That said, I agree with Ek (!!!) that he shouldn't attend because he doesn't need it and it will make the whole thing a circus. |

Presumption of innocence is a right of the accused in a criminal trial. As much as you think the NHL is criminal court--it's not! |

The NHL still has a CBA that they have to follow. I think until Kane is indicted, I think it's business as usual. As much as that may be distasteful. |

Does that mean they have to play him? Not even talking suspension or withholding pay here. |

I agree, but I think there is something to be said for getting as many of the questions out of the way now, because once they go on the road, he'll have other teams' media to deal with, etc.
i think it's going to be a circus no matter what. |

Of course not. As long as they are paying him which legally they have to do at this point. A team never has to play a player if they don't see fit. Nothing anyone can do about that. |

I don't think a team can be forced to play any player. Look at it from this point of view. Hypothetically, if Kane is innocent, why should he put his career on hold? |

I think innocent until proven guilty. So as long as there is only an investigation, the player should be able to attend camp, even though I agree with MJL that it is in poor taste.
If there are formal charges brought forward, then I think at that point the player should be suspended indefinitely until a verdict is reached. At that point, a long term decision is made. |

I'd also like to know when the guys he mentioned are due for a new contract. Because the next one for each will be considerably higher, I'd imagine. |

Really? Sweet. I'm going to go around reporting that Sidney Crosby raped me. That way, until he's been fully exonerated, he won't be allowed to play. Hell, I may just say I've been gang-raped by the entire Eastern Conference. |

With the exception of Keith, they're both due for raises after this season...which means they likely won't both be Blackhawks after this year. |
