oh hell.. in 3 years that chunky lil poop will be so far out of shape it will cause him to hit the downturn of his career early
worth the damn move.. money is the least of the leafs problems
by the time the youth movement starts to look for their own big coin it will be long off the books. - Dozzer
it was poopty move just to make a bold statement and they ended up paying and getting next to nothing in return for their greatest asset |

Well Leiweke isnt the official CEO of Rogers anymore, a man by the name Guy Laurence is.
There is nothing wrong with honouring past greats imo.. shows young kids too that if they play with everything they got for the franchise, they will be remembered in some way shape or form - Dozzer
You young punks are too young to remember what the Leafs originally did with the "honoured numbers."
If you wanted to wear #9, the shoulder patches on your jersey would have the names Conacher and Kennedy.
I franking loved this. I seriously franking loved this. You want to wear that numbers? Sure, but you'd better live up to the guys in the past who wore it. You'd better honour it. You'd better work your damn ass off every night, because this number is special in Leafland.
Sadly, the NHL stepped in and squished the program - apparently you couldn't have jerseys on the same team that were different. No idea why.
And that, children, is how Nik Antropov wore #9 for a while, and never really gave too poops when he was on the ice. |

What I don't get is how this guy is still on anyone's radar.
He played one season. He did OK. Not great, not bad.
But as far as Leafs Nation is concerned, it's like we all came home early from school one day to find Jason Allison plugging our mom on the living room couch.
I can easily name 20 guys who deserve our hate more.
Make that 40.
No, 50.
Hell, probably 70... - Atomic Wedgie
He was just notable for our long list of people that would pass when on a breakaway.
Wellwood, Mark Bell, Allison.
There were more, but man were those some depressing times

I get what you are saying... but it would seem more than coincidental that Kessel was shipped out immediately following the 4M$ contract payout that was required July 1st (I believe that's correct)... and even a passing analysis would tell you that Babcock and probably Shanahan decided that he "had to go" before camp to clear the air.
All indications are that the deal was done prior to the draft... but Pittsburgh didn't want to pony up the $4M bonus payment. |

I thought that based on two rookie games, we all agreed that Kapanen is a bust, no? |

We are switching to Harold Ballard to hate on. Allison wasn't here long enough.

I believe back in the day the young player actually had to ask the retired player for permission.

are you sure you want to start that... the best thing that could have happened to the Leafs would Ballard having actually died much much earlier - like around 1976. |
