You know he's 19 right? I would call 5 points in 7 AHL playoff games above average for an 18 yo. Questioning his commitment to this rookie tournament is quite different then taking the extreme point of view and considering him a bust. Let's give him some time before we start pulling the same old Leaf fan crap on him.

OK sure, awesome.

Without looking it up or searching, this smells of PPP website.

Usually is, lol. I think he didn't impress but it is just two games with a whole new team, you have to cut him some slack.

Its cool to see all the prospects in 1 game...but in the big picture it means almost nothing when it comes to the end result

This was the review of KK after game 1...from another Blog site

- Kasperi Kapanen looked very strong. He is unlikely to ever have the totals of Nylander or Marner, but his stick handling, skating (particularly his top speed), and playmaking stood out a lot in this game.

- senstroll

game 1 ?!?

That had to be a MapleLeafsHotStove review. The quote is ridiculous. He looked horrible in the first game.

Exactly, it is not the result of the games, this tournament really is about individual play, assessing their skill level.

Personally, I think Nylander was above every prospect for any team in this tournament..

I think in these games it is pretty much a whole new team for all these guys isn't it.

From what I saw, yeah.

The thing about these games is that the tryout guys will generally out-shine the high draft pick guys. They simply have more to play for. It is the same in pre-season where the young guys and rookies generally out play the vets.

True in a way but it is a whole new organization, he showed flashes, especially holding onto the puck, he needs a year at least.

Yeah but I like the idea of a full-season in the AHL for him. He is still growing physically and the ice time and experience can't hurt.

I also don't want our best young prospects subjected to the sh1t show that is going to be the Leafs this year.

yes, so do I

I agree with Leafman. He'll need a year in the AHL to get an idea of what we have. Good thing the Leafs plan seems to involve not subjecting these guys to the NHL for a while.

I also think they should bring up a whole line or pairs

example

Nylander and Brown

McCarron and Gauthier are going to have many epic battles in the AHL, or the ECHL.

Dermott and Valiev stood out on D, pretty good draft picks.

I am not convinced Brown's game is going to translate to the NHL either.

Let's just hope the Leafs stick to the idea of developing these guys.

expect prospects like Kapenen who are late 1sts (and on) to be held back until they are 21-22 for the most part.

Really liked Dermott. I hate to say it but Valiev looked a little lost in his own zone at times.

The other guy who looked bad was Finn, and living in Guelph, I had really high hopes for him.
