Story: The Leafs are grooming William Nylander and Mitch Marner for a future at centre.

This is a good thing

I love how MLSEL leaks this story to quiet the Stamkos tampering chatter.

It's brilliant.

they seem disappointed when the answer comes back as "oh you know, laundry, thinking about making a sandwich, and I prolly should unload the dishwasher"

Seriously? How could you be bothered.

The endless stream of obnoxious comments from the Habs fans the other night would have been hilarious if they wasn't so pathetic. They were like most of the Habs fans I know in real life; insufferable Aholes.

The whole point of the games is to see how your best prospects perform, the Leafs didn't play their best prospects in that game, it was a lot of invites or so it seemed.

First impressions on Marner: Bruce, so far I think you're right. He's going to juniors. He didn't look right playing alongside Nylander at all....he was on for a lot of goals for but wasn't really active in the play. Very hesitant. Maybe in real camp playing with NHLers we'll see more of what he's about.

Nylander: Was by far the best player. Everything seemed to just slow down when he had the puck, and he was in full control. Pretty obvious he is already a top player in the AHL. He's going to make it real tough in camp for sure. I think we drafted a top line player with this one.

Kapenen looked fine in the offensive zone, but was lost in the defensive zone.

Valiev looked steady. He got beat on that one play but Finn did him no favours with the trailer.

Finn looked lost.

I may have been sleeping but Marner did not play alongside Nylander, that was Kapanen, except for the power play.

Yup, Marner and Nylander were both utilized as centres during the rookie tournament. Neither played wing, except on the PP.

I actually think that is why Marner looked a little out of position. I know he played a bit of Centre during the season, but not as much as Nylander did in Sweden. Nylander looks far and away better than everyone else on the ice.

Rodewald and Brouillard had stand out tournaments for the Leafs.

Disappointed in Kapanen, but we will see what he brings as the season progresses.

Once they used their own drafted goalie they got the win, Sparks was outstanding.
