As silly as this may sound I can't imagine us having a ton of interest in Stamkos. First, he is about to break the bank. Second, it would cost Eichel or Reinhart ++ to get him. Third, one of the biggest things that we will have going for us in the coming years is Eichel and Reinhart on the cheap.

I don't want Stamkos. That being said, I bet he could be had for Eichel straight up after this season.

I think GMTM has already said RoR will be 1C, with probably Kane and Ennis on wings.
Best chance to compete against other teams #1 lines.
Big Z and Eichel as next two C's to start out.
Reinhart might have to play wing at the start of the year on 2nd or 3rd.
Don't want him playing center on 4th line, getting 10 mins/game ice time.

It would have to be before the season as he is a UFA. If there were talks I am sure that was their request.

Both Stinkhart and Eichel will have some growing pains. Will be a couple weeks before we see how the top lines pan out.

"Some sources indicate teams called Yzerman to ask. Others say the Lightning wanted to check the market in case they eventually had to do something. A few suspected Buffalo, because Sabres GM Tim Murray is unafraid to take bold steps. (Via text, Murray declined to answer and another source claimed it never really went anywhere.) The info is out there, but it’s very hard to pin down."

Any GM that doesn't at least pose the question "what would I have to give you to get Stamkos?" to Yzerman in this situation probably isn't very good at his job.

Exactly. Calling to find out doesn't mean you have to actually do it. But it can't hurt to at least ask, right?

Sure. In our position I just wonder if there is a scenario where it would be worth our while because of his age/contract status and the age of our best assets.

I think youre right but imo eichel and sam are both natural centers but i think from a speed/shot perspective eichel would adjust to playing wing better than sam

I think you might see Reinhart and Girgs on the wing at different points throughout the year. They're gonna have to figure out what pieces fit best together. The first half of the season or so could see a lot of different combinations.

I think this is probably right, but I can't imagine they're going to take the next face of the franchise out of his natural position. He's just too damn good.

Does anybody know if they ever played Sid at the wing in his rookie year?

I think putting him on the wing is just a temporary thing to reduce the amount of pressure that is put on the center. I wouldn't mind seeing both Eichel and Reinhart on the top line wing at different times. I'd like to leave Ennis with Moulson.

The fourth period reported that the Leafs almost traded Van Reimsdyk over the summer. I think this is an indication that they are going to go scorched-earth rebuild instead of trying to piece it together. I think that is smart but it would guarantee that they would suck for the next 4+ years because they haven't yet bottomed out.

If that's the case Stamkos will not be a leaf then.

Agreed with all points from the posts..Don't messed with success.
Also agreed that Sam, Gus and Larrson will be moved around the most until the line combinations are settled.
Excited for this weekend to see if things change after the development camp (besides Sam/Jack):

-Will nick baptiste actually show up..
-Guhle seemed to pick it up towards the later part of the dev. game offensively hopefully he brings it
-Please show some hope from Eric Cornel

Its interesting that the guy says the competition for No. 2 came down to Karlos and Bryce. Don't know if that was before or after they decided Fred was done.

He's a bottom line player as well. People expect these kids to be ready to go and be an impact NHL player right after they're drafted and that's completely unrealistic. He'll spend time in the minors. Is he still eligible for Jr? If so, he'll be there again this year.
