Exactly, the Rangers forward depth is one of the best in the league, which is a big reason why they've been so successful. But how much better would they be if they didn't have to bail out their defensemen as much?
- GOODPLAYA20

Every team has their flaws even the Hawks did last postseason. Hawks lack of defensive depth was made up by just how dominant their top four was, especially Keith and Seabrook.

Rangers have a complete team and should not drop off much, or at all, this season.

The Habs and Hawks gave up 189 goals last year. The Rangers gave up 192. In a year Lundqvist missed 2 months.

They lost game 7 of the conference finals to the most dynamic offensive team in the NHL 2-0, and it was 0-0 going into 3rd period.

I am not on board with this we are an overrated defensive team nonsense.

It's less about total goals given up and more about how much they have the puck. It's a lot easier to play defense when your team has the puck. The last couple Stanley Cup winners (so Chicago and LA) are possession monsters, and they've won the cup as a result (and because Dwight King decided to sit on top of Hank, but I'm not bitter or anything).

When that's been the formula to winning the last few years, doesn't it make sense to try and improve on that part of the game? Especially when perenial bottom-dwellers like Toronto and New Jersey have been absolutely terrible in possession that last few years.

Chances are they won't be able to trade them, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't give it a shot. Stranger things have happened then a player waiving their NMC.

It could be worse...you could be writing the same predictable crap that's written on the Hotstove. Talk about a blog that takes the easy way out.

I'm just trying to have fun. Three are fifty six million hockey blogs and this is maybe - or at least i like to think - one of the few that are different. I basically just write the blog I want to read.

It's not like I'm doing this for the money or have any goal of working at TSN, so I just go with what's interesting to me at any given moment. I wish I was so calculating. I mean, come on, it's not like having the same five Rangers fans yell at me is turning me into a millionaire!

Remember when every Penguins fan on this site thought the Penguins weren't getting PPs because their PP was so good that the NHL told refs not to give them any to keep the games fair?

And then your theory turned into how the refs got together and decided amongst themselves not to give you any PPs because Crosby slammed his stick against the glass when he was frustrated with a call?

- rangerdanger94

Nah.. I was pretty sure its because we were well disliked for female doging about calls, as well as Mario female doging about us not getting calls.

But hey, keep labeling all of us as one entity, just like ALL of the Rags fan cheered for Letangs injury by your logic.

That and the Isles played that series without their best Dman
- Vukota

Also without two of their other starting defenseman for the majority of the series. If we're going to talk about injuries come on we had Griffin Reinhart on our third pairing for a game.

Just saw Dirty Heads upstate NY at the Saranac Brewery (If you're unfamiliar with them they are pretty much SoCal Stoner music, very much like Sublime). Let me tell ya... I don't smoke, partake in all the recreational trippininess that has consumed these music festivals like wildfire the greater part of the last, 40 years, but when I read one of YOUR blogs my room begins to spin, I can almost hear SRV playing "little wing" & my eyes begin to dilate like I've been staring into the sun for too long. Thanks for the positive vibes, Tanner, you're becoming infectious.

This is clearly a public service announcement to go see Dirty Heads. Do it for the children, Tanner.

1.McDavid will score 30G 30A, a great showing for a rookie, and will win ROY but won't be in the top 10 in points.
2.Stanley cup to Dallas
3.Max Domi, sure
4.Hurricanes will finish bottom 10 in the league
5.Rangers miss playoffs-Possible, but East is going to be kinda weak
6.Taylor Hall will barely get past 30 G
7.Oilers come close, but one spot shy of the post season
8.Arizona will finish last
9.Wild goal is a toss up, but they make it past the 2nd round in the playoffs
10.I think Buffalo might actually snag Franson

And just because the organization likes them doesn't mean I have to. And for the record, I don't dislike them. I just think they can be replaced with better players.

why would a team trade better players than Dan Girardi or Marc Staal to acquire Dan Girardi or Marc Staal?

And the Rags can't have injuries and don't have cap issues?
- jfkst1

Any team can have injuries, and the Rangers are a team going into the season fairly healthy. Plus they're pretty ok cap wise now, everyone is signed for the year. The fact is that the Met Division is way stronger now, but to say that the Rangers won't even get a wild card spot is a stretch.

I think Leddy is top ten in the NHL.
- James_Tanner

but you also put keith down at 7 on that same top ten. so we should take those thoughts with a grain of salt....

The Metro will be by far the best division in the NHL, Rangers, Isles, Caps and Blue Jackets 1-4 and you still have the Pens, the East is taking over
