I think some of these have a good chance of happening.

As much chance as Tanner ever being considered a credible writer.

Did any of your predictions come true last year? If I remember right you guaranteed Domi would win the calder and The Coyotes would make the playoffs and that made me think you were an idiot. Now this year...

That was me. Although I wasn't exactly celebrating his concussion, I just kept quoting posts that contained lineups with a completely healthy lineup and saying "that will never happen"

No, you weren't that bad. KreiderBomb, Jimbro, and Slimtj were worse. http://www.hockeybuzz.com...p?thread_id=125278&page=2

My fellow Rangers fans, especially Jim, why are you getting suckered into this? It's an opinion piece, as are 90% of these blogs. Who cares, let him delusionally think he is smarter than most of the people that give his work any attention.

So... just so everyone is on the same page... Tanner is predicting the entire Ranger's team to get the Mumps, Lupis, and explosive diarrhea for over half the season, while the Hurricanes' bus crashes into some nuclear waste, and they get super powers (and just barely squeak into the playoffs).

Why?? What tells you he won't be that good again? Until his play starts to slip, then I see no reason to think that. Rick Nash can't score 40 goals again? why? I guess Ovi can't score more goals this year than last as well (no im not comparing the two players..lol) Im an NYR fan, but by no means was the goaltending magical or out of this world. Ofcourse, both tenders made great saves, but MANY of the wins was b/c of the NYR defensive corp. and team/transition play.

Maybe in 2-3 years I can see your point, but now??? not buying

- rrentz

The Rangers success actually had A LOT to do with goaltending. It's a pretty well-known fact that Girardi and Staal were below average in shot suppression, yet got the bulk of ice time. The defense isn't as great as people make it out to be. Not terrible, but not especially great either.

Edit: Also Tanner Glass is still on the team, so there's that.

You can't clearly see this is a Ranger fan troll piece? He stayed in the western conference for 70% of this blog; 30% to inform the fans that Carolina will make the playoffs, over the Rangers, and the Rangers most hated rivals will hoist the Stanley Cup.
- MidnightMarauder

His blogs have been receiving a lot of posts ever since he mentioned in a side comment that the Rangers don't have a good defense. He saw how much controversy it created and he's run with it. What is this...the 4th blog in the last couple weeks mentioning the Rangers negativately? And he keeps getting posts. So he'll keep doing it.

He did the same thing with OEL, and really any blog where he posts his top 10 defenseman list. He knows it gets the comments and arguments flowing so he keeps recycling the same blog to attract the same people in to keep his blog's post counts high. If you look at his archive, if it isn't a blog on something ridiculous, it doesn't get many posts.

:O someone admitting the Rangers defense is average at best + arguably the best Goalie in hockey?

Who are you and what team did you change from into the Rangers?

Color me stunned.

In all honesty, I do think the Islanders will be strong this season and if they were to win I wouldn't be floored.

Carolina making the playoffs, McDavid winning the scoring title, Edmonton making the playoffs and the Rangers missing it all could happy for sure.

I am not that arrogant to think the Rangers could never miss but it will take a lot of misfortune for them to do just that.

Yes, I was just referring to their overall defense. Like I said, it's about average. It's definitely something Gorton will have to address quickly before Hank really starts to decline. It's also something that could very well prevent the Rangers from winning the Cup in the next year or two.

This narrative is something someone that didn't watch the Rangers much, last season, would suggest.

The Rangers were solid in all facets of the game especially during the regular season.

Remember when every Penguins fan on this site thought the Penguins weren't getting PPs because their PP was so good that the NHL told refs not to give them any to keep the games fair?

And then your theory turned into how the refs got together and decided amongst themselves not to give you any PPs because Crosby slammed his stick against the glass when he was frustrated with a call?

1. Connor McDavid Will Win the Scoring Title.

"Oooooh child, this is the most confident I've been on a prediction that didn't involve paternity in at least six weeks," is what Cleo told me when I asked her who would win the NHL scoring title this season.

Of course the odds of a rookie winning the Art Ross are pretty low, since even Wayne Gretzky could only manage a tie. Still, with 87 taking the title last year it's not impossible that it could happen. I even saw today where Stamkos said that McDavid is probably better than he is, and if that is true, then he has as good a chance as anyone.

2. The Stanley Cup Will go to the Islanders

With Leddy, Boychuk, de Haan and Hamonic, the Islanders have an incredible defense. They have Tavares, Okposo, Lee, Strome, Grabovski, Neilson and Kulemin on forward and I like their goalie.

Overall, they have a very deep, highly talented team. I like them to finally do some damage in the Playoffs.

3. Max Domi Will Have an Excellent Year

He's not going to win the Calder because of Connor McDavid, but he should be one of the league's top rookies. I predict a 20 goal, 50 point season.

4. The Hurricanes Will Make the Playoffs

Injuries have put a damper on Jordan Staals career, but if healthy he can be one of the best players in hockey because of his dominant ability to possess the puck. Eric Staal is still excellent, Jeff Skinner - if healthy - has elite potential and they have some of the best young defensemen in hockey.

I also like the addition of Eddie Lack and think they'll be the surprise team of the NHL this year....I mean, Miss Cleo thinks so, anyways.

5. The Rangers Will Miss the Playoffs

The East is much better than it's been and the Rangers will be hard pressed to make it when three Atlantic teams automatically get in. The Rangers success depends nearly 100% on Lundqvist and I predict that his age will finally begin to show this season.

He only played 46 games last season and if he can't get back to 60+ the Rangers are in trouble. With the Capitals, Penguins and Islanders all too good to miss the Playoffs, the Rangers will have to battle for a Wild Card spot with the Blue Jackets, Flyers and Hurricanes who I think will surprise.

6. Taylor Hall Will Score 50+ Goals

It's not like it's likely or anything, but if anyone is going to usurp Ovechkin as the goal-scoring champion, it will be the already dangerous Taylor Hall now that he has McDavid to pass him the puck.

Consider this: McDavid is supposedly the best player to enter the league since Crosby. Crosby has never had anyone close to Taylor Hall as his winger, as far as I know, so this should be interesting.

7. The Oilers Will Make the Playoffs

"Come on Child, give me an easy one...that is kind of obvious," said Miss Cleo.

Agreed.

8. The Canucks Will Finish Last in the NHL

Miss Cleo was no fan of any of the Canucks off season moves. I see steep declines in their aging forwards and I just don't think their D is Playoff worthy.

9. Dubnyk Falls Back Hard and Wild Stuggle Before Making Kuemper #1 Goalie

When a guy shatters the previous expectations that were held for him, it's often impossible to follow it up. The Wild have a nice team, but Dubnyk will struggle to keep up his Vezina-like play and will eventually be replaced with the possibly more talented Darcy Kuemper.

10.Cody Franson Will Shock the World By Signing With Arizona

Just kidding, but I wish

Yeah I am obviously not expecting the Islanders to win the Stanley Cup or the Rangers to fail to reach the playoffs. But I guess you never know.
