My only concern is that there is only so much room in front of the net. Both plot and horny cant be there. So if they are on the same line are you throwing one guy off his game by making him change? I'm sure it can be fixed, but its just a case of using everyone to their best abilities. Its not a big thing. just something to watch. - Zac_O
Hornqvist is positionally sound so I'm not worried about him being out of position. Not sure on Plotnikov yet. |

Any extra roster spot should be decided by a battle between Sundqvist, Rust, Wilson, and Sheary. What's the point of having cheap young contracts if we're gonna sign washed up never-has-beens like Manbearpig. |

rust eh, wilson too injured to tell, sund isnt starting up and is hyped up to much. he may be good but it is like that move that everyone was waiting for and then its only good not great and your like, "eh" sheary is a ?. I would love to see TK signed to a PTO to compete... if he beats the kids, cool... if not cool. He could be like a tom Kostopolous. vet guy in WBS that might earn a call up. and tk wasnt a never has been.... they dont score 22 goals in the nhl. he is definately a borderline nhler at this time though. anyone offer kopecky a pto yet? he might be another final winger to look at |

To play devil's advocate, you can have all the zone time you want. But you need to turn that zone time into shots and those shots into goals. If the other team only has the puck 15% of the time but limits your scoring chances and gets 5 quality shots past your goalie, you're not going to win most nights (on any given night). - jmatchett383
Very good point, something Analytics people too often forget - goals are much better than shots & possession! |

We'll see...he's a great player from the red line in. Not sure if you watched him in Toronto...it's the NHL don't give me the crap he had no one to play with.
I'm hoping he can find success in Pitts...but a leopard doesn't change it's spots...he could care less about his own end and ususally is headed for the red line when his own D has the puck behind his their own net. Or he gets it on his side boards and leaves it to avoid contact.
I like Pitts...I hope Kessel proves me wrong...but I yelled at him for 5 years as a Leaf...now I can watch with a little less care now he's a Pen - Garnie
Honestly, is this the best team he's played for in those 5 years? I remember in the Olympics when he was buzzing around the ice so dangerous & a threat most shifts. It's amazing what happens to a player when he is surrounded by good/very good player, usually gets them a little more enthusiastic. |

He was taking about scoring chances (corsi) a opposed to zone time which I was talking about. Not exactly a win for you and your anti-analytics. |

Aussie, is "guy" a curse word in Australia or are you just pissed off we're not saying "mate" - Victoro311
Pretty sure we all agreed that 'Guy' was a no go - I'm happy to review if you want to submit your documentation.
Now 'mate' can actually be used in an aggressive manner also - "you know what I'm (frank)ing talking about........MATE?".

I'm not anti Analytics, just not sold on some of it's statistical formulas at the current time. I'm actually a stats person who loves reviewing certain types of stats - Corsi is like a lady boy though!
Edit: you can still have 99% of the zone time & a 100 shots on goal - I'll have 1 shot 1 % with 1 goal! |

Not true. Anyone that has a basic understanding of analytics knows that finding positive goal differentials is the objective. The problem is that it takes a very long time to get a solid sample to predict relative goal differentials for forwards and really never happens at a better rate than possession for dmen. |

So how do you get a positive goal differential?
If you have possession & lots of shots on goal with zero goals but your opponent has little possession low shots & a goal who has the positive goal differential?
Possession & shots on goal do not guarantee goals - they provide the opportunity to score a goal.
More shots does not = more goals. |
