Let me ask you something and I'm not being a Richard but if it was reversed and the Pens did all of that crap to get the Flyers off their game would you be cool with it? Personally I would because whatever I have to do to win I'm willing to. I have no real issue with those teams doing that my issue is with the Pens allowing them to do it - dbell646
OH poop. He saw my favorite team and got me by redirecting my comment and basing it on my team.

Orpik is a huge hole. Alzner probably isn't suited to being in the top 4 either. Orlov and Schmidt have talent and could surprise. Burakovsky and Kuznetsov are talented as well. Plenty of wasted money on plugs Laich, Chimera, and Beagle. Holtby is solid.

Carlson may be one of the most underrated defenders in the game. And he's a true American hero.
Alzner will never justify his pick in the draft, but he plays a good shutdown game.
Orpik...that was just bad. I wonder if he and Niskanen were buddies and Niskanen gave them a, "I'll sign for less than market if you give Brooks above market value" kind of deal. Niskanen could have gotten a lot more than he did.
Read an interesting article about PTO's. Usually there isn't even a full expectation of signing the player. Just simply offering the player a shot to showcase himself, even to other teams. Why would a team go through that effort? Well, one reason might be building a relationship with the players agent.

Carlson is on a great deal for them. They'll need Burakovsky and Kuznetsov to keep improving. Just like the Pens need Maatta and Pouliot to take on bigger roles.

I'm curious what percentage of players on PTOs end up signing with a team for an NHL spot.
Carcillo did last year with the Hawks after PTOing with Pitt - Reverend Killtaker
I want to put Carcillo, Downie, and Rinaldo into some kind of Thunderdome type of thing. A big cage where 3 men enter and 1 man leaves. Just throw a few swords, axes, knives, maybe a chainsaw and a scythe or two in there.
I'm not anti-fighting. I'm anti the stupid "code" and the idiotic notion that players can referree themselves by punishing players that get out of line by either fighting them, taking runs at them, or taking runs at their stars. I don't know how people think this leads to a cleaner, safer game. It leads to violence and injuries, sometimes these injuries will have life long effects. It's moronic
I think fighting should be an automatic suspension... 1 game for 1st, 2 games for second, etc. all fighting does is wussify the game of hockey - ChrisMS
Wait...hockey fights are fake? Oh wow, I had always thought they were trying to hit each other for real.
Hockey is a fast-paced game with tons of physical contact where sometimes your emotions run high. That's just how it will always be. I'd rather players get that out by punching each other for 30 seconds as opposed to running a player or doing what Marty McSorely did to Brashear.
Not really. Just drew names out of a hat. I described my ideal lines if Plotnikov and Bennett showed top 6 promise and I think my third line ended up being Perron-Bonino-Dupuis. If we run off the assumption that Bennett and Plotnikov are not top 6 forwards then I think my third line would look something like Dupuis-Bonino-Bennett. - Victoro311
I don't see Plotnikov as a top 6 guy and I don't want Perron in the bottom 6. I hope Bennet can reach his potential and play on the Malkin line as well though. I'd like a third line of Kunitz Bonino and Fehr and a 4th line of Plotnikoc Cullen and Dupuis. i just think Dupuis is going to be rusty after not playing much over the last 2 years. I would love Sundquist to get in there too somehow, it would make Dupuis or Kunitz expendable and we could move one of them for a 4-5 dman. Maybe we could send Lovejoy with whoever it was.

I dont think there is any correlation. either that was a hate crime or it was a perfect example of the circle of violence that ryan mentioned.
fake fighting. They throw punches half-assed and when they knock someone down or they tucker out they hug each other and whisper sweet nothings into the others ears.
throw a clean check, steal the puck, and score. that aughta help those emotions runnin high.

I dont know about the whole fake thing when you see guys getting bloodied and knocked out. I think it separates hockey from all other sports. You wouldnt see a nfl player fighting for anything other than his ego, definately npt for a teamate. I also wonder if guys like engelland, colton orr eric godaard feel like wussies when they think about all the times theyve fought another human being.

So you're telling me guy in white here got tired, and just wanted to lay down for a few?
And Derek Boogaard was just teasing guys. He caved in Todd Fedoruk's face in jest, he didn't mean to hit him. Right?
As for a "hate crime" there is a different set of rules in sports than there are in everyday life. If you were walking down the street and threw a perfectly clean body check at someone or made a good NFL tackle on a stranger, that is called "assault and battery" and you can go to jail for it.

they dont do it for anything close to "their teammates" they do it because they cant play the game and they are trying to earn a paycheck and their own egos. Your in neverneverland if you think it has anything to do with defending their teammates"
I'd say it was almost cute... like believing in santa claus
That Islanders game was FIVE YEARS AGO. Most of the players, especially Gilles/Haley, are gone now. What the hell does that have to do with last year's team?
Oh, I get it: Once a player/team does something dirty against the holy Penguins, they're nothing but goons in your eyes. Got it.
I have no problem admitting that the Flyers had some dirty players. Rinaldo should have never played another game after the hit against that Buffalo rookie 2 years ago. But to paint the entire team as dirty and "a bunch of a-holes" because of a few players/instances that you don't like, is ridiculous. Is Letang dirty for picking a fight with a guy who'd never fought before? Is Malkng dirty because of his "excuse me" elbows? Is Kessel dirty for twice two-handing a player?
News flash: EVERY TEAM HAS DIRTY PLAYERS. YOUR TEAM IS NO DIFFERENT! - jmatchett383
Oh yeah EVERYONE know how the Peguins are just a bunch of cheapshotting goons and EVERYONE also says the Flyers are a bunch of gentlemen. It's not ridiculous. And it's not a few instances, I gave some examples but every time we play them there is more examples. I hate every player on the Flyers and I have every right to. Giroux= a-hole, Vorachek= a-hole, Schenn=..............?.....................a-hole etc, etc. I hope that entire team gets Ebola. Who did Letang fight that has never fought before? Timonan? That was Timonan that started that fight, Letang just obliged him. I hope someone underestimate Pouliot because he throws bombs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WkMLOaWZC8.

mcsorley either attacked him cause he was black or because he was playing dirty and marty lost his cool. either way it has nothing to do with the game. they follow a bizarre set of unwritten rules... so yeah to an extent it is "fake" (I hope you arnt actually thinking I think its legit wwe fake)
