Can we sign him to a 2 way deal and just play him against the Flyers and to go after Ovechkin for the chop on Letang and Doan because he's a POS? He can play in Wilkes with PL3 and Farnham. That team is not going to be very good this year so they might as well be entertaining.

Out of curiosity, why play him against the Flyers now that Rinaldo is gone? You guys say the Flyers always get you off your skill game. I'm not sure that playing Sestito is going to help alleviate that.

Also, if Downie was such a deterrent, why didn't he beat the living crap out of Rinaldo last season? I was honestly begging SOMEONE to do it. After the hit on Letang, I was screaming for someone to lay him out at every game I went to, especially the one in Pittsburgh.

Because the entire Flyers team is a bunch of a-holes and they are extra extra dirty when they play Pittsburgh. Yeah Rinaldo is gone but Coutourir, Simmonds, Shen, etc are still there. Remember when Vorachek freaked out on Scuderi last year? The Flyers know to dirt it up when they play us. That's why they win so much. They don't have a good team they just know how to frustrate us.

Tom Sestito is the last guy you want protecting anyone on your team. During his tenure in Vancity, I witnessed him wining maybe 2 fights out of the 35 or so he was involved in. For a supposed enforcer, he sure got his arse handed to him lots.

What has Couturier ever done that was dirty against the Penguins besides have James Neal jump at his head?

The same goes for Wayne Simmonds. And how does Voracek "freaking out" one time make him a dirty player?

The fact is, the Penguins get so worked up about it that they beat themselves. If they just went out and didn't care, they'd beat the Flyers every time because right now, they're a better team. This isn't 1975 anymore.

I guess they went a combined 2-6-1 against Washington and the Islanders because of all the players on those teams tryign to "dirt it up."

I have no issue with a PTO in August. Meh not really even news worthy. My guy I want would be someone who doesn't fight other tough guys I want someone who just goes right after whoever done it. Instigator be damned. Just attack

I can get behind this. It won't necessarily deter players, at least the first time, but at least makes them accountable.

I'm assuming most would refer to the cross checks to Geno. I consider that hockey as long as it's not a violent head shot.

Right. They may take a run but then they get punched in the face. If player A hits player B and then Player C fights player D how the hell does that help?

Being on the ice for 8 minutes or less... did he even get another shift within the 10 minutes of the Rinaldo hit -_-

It's the slashes and the hooks and the extra curriculars when the refs arnt looking. Coutourier especially. Maybe because that is your team you don't notice? And yeah pretty much the same for the Caps. I remember we were winning that game until Ovie chopped Letang. That was as dirty as it gets and it threw us off our game. The Islanders? Are you kidding? Do you not remember few years ago? That game was an embarrassment for the entire NHL and it was all Islanders trying to get Talbot and Penguins trying to defend themselves. Last year we couldn't match their speed on the wings. Why are you always so condescending when someone doesn't see things the way you do, like you're so intellectually superior?

It's so annoying to try and type on this site from a smart phone. I don't want a Volkswagen Ek and I don't care how many times my screen jumps up to that stupid add. In fact it makes me HATE Volkswagen even more.

What if someone cam to wherever you work(if you do work that is) with a stick and whacked you with it every time you tried to do something and no one else was looking? Would you just ignore him and get your work done? I know after about 5 minutes I would break that guys nose. And then I would get arrested I mean that's just a regular human reaction to that situation. Just because they play hockey for a living doesn't mean they don't have human emotions and tendencies.

@Sammy and his take out the stars because the rest of the team blows comment:

Yeah well lets see how it works now that the rest of the team doesn't blow. I think this is what we're gonna see. At the beginning of the season its gonna be business as usual and guys are gonna take runs at Crosby et. all. However, while they're throwing everything they've got at our top two lines, our skilled forwards in our bottom 6 are gonna go to work and pot one or two on their softer resistance. As the season goes on, teams won't be able to solely focus on Crosby, Malkin, Phil, and Letang and they'll have to start formulating actual game plans to stop the team as a whole and the goon puck will dwindle.

Do you really think a guy like this is going to keep players from taking runs at Sid and geno? It's not going to keep Dubinsky or staal from taking little cheap shots at them. What happens when you send sestito out against Dubinsky, Couterier, or someone else he ends up taking a penalty or getting scored on

I really hope you're right because I'm sick of this team losing their cool when they are playing dirt bag teams like the Flyers, the Caps, and the Bruins.

Let me ask you something and I'm not being a Richard but if it was reversed and the Pens did all of that crap to get the Flyers off their game would you be cool with it? Personally I would because whatever I have to do to win I'm willing to. I have no real issue with those teams doing that my issue is with the Pens allowing them to do it

Like I said, that's going to be hard to do now that we have legit forward depth. Can't win by frustrating Crosby and Malkin if the bottom 6 is scoring or even taking really good shifts. Frustrate Crosby one shift, Fehr, Dupuis, and Bennett keep the puk in the Flyers' zone for one straight minute the next and all of a sudden you've got Crosby coming out with momentum off the bench again. Hook Letang one shift, Cullen and the boys notch a #4thLineSwag goal the next and then all of a sudden Geno tastes blood and decides that he is goal too. It's a whole different dynamic.

Your third line is Dupuis Fehr and Bennet? Interesting. Like I said, I hope you're right. I know that is the game plan. But the past 4-5 years tells a different story. It is a new dynamic but if the bottom 6 get frustrated too what are they going to do? The Flyers and the Caps most annoying guys are in the bottom 6. I think anyways. I hate those 2 teams and I don't care much about their rosters.

Teams have been very effective using goons against the Penguins. Look at the Pens record against the Isles, Flyers and Caps last year... 2-9-2. Martin, Rinaldo and Wilson run around like dummies and the Pens could do nothing about it. In those rivalry games the refs always put away the whistles and let things get dumb.

Not sure Sesito is the guy to fill that role for the Pens but I would rather see him in the lineup vs the Flyers, Isles and Caps than Bennett. Ideally you would have a guy like Prout from Columbus who is a solid bottom pairing D who can also scrap. Engelland did a good job for the Pens in that role previously.

- MacPatty

This, please. Kill two birds with one stone. You can't tell me that guys like Prout, Engelland, etc. are worse than our current bottom pairing slugs.

Not many people know this but this song was actually written about the Flyers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2K2hSB4fEU
