Thats right....team systems have huge influences on goalie stats. Do they clear rebounds? Is that "where to leave rebounds" system working fluidly? Are defenders protecting your weak areas?
Look at NJ....how many feel
MB benefitted greatly from the loaded D, trap drfense and team system?!
Then compare with luongo with the poop D system AV had in place....
RL could easily have done better with a D that had a clue how to defend.....which they didnt, outside of hamius that is. Losing mitchell was a huge mistake.
Point is Team D and system matters in outcomes for goalies and stats. Thinking itd be worthwhile to add a side stat of team D performance for comparison. - SMBDragon
It also doesn't take into account crazy bounces and shots that change direction in ways not anticipated. It's why stats in team sports (that aren't baseball) never really can be good predictors of a players future production. Especially for goalies, who get blamed for soft goals, when a 'soft goal' might actually be the result of a combination of things that they can't control. So many factors go into scoring a goal and very little may be in a players control. |

The rose colored glasses filter? - hillbillydeluxe
One can hope.
The concerns are:
1) rotation of the first line/who fits there Burrows or Vrbata or Hansen as Kassian is no longer an option thankfully.
2) second line winger to play with Sutter/Horvat-Vrbata...Baertchi?
3) Third line wingers to play with Horvat if that's where he slots. Higgins and Hansen?
4) no concerns at all with Prust/Dorsett. Vey will come around.
5) will the next 'Horvat' crack the lineup. Cassels? Virtanen? Who?
6) Edler and Tanev. Good Dmen but way too soft to be successful in the west.
7) Hamhuis is slowing down and is getting softer by the year. Massive concern.
8) is Weber really up to the task of the RH shot PP guy?. Soft as well.
9) is Corrado ready to be a steady Dman?.
10 is Markstrom over his mental issues with playing in the NHL?
11) is Vrbata still pouting?
Many many concerns other than players named Sbisa, Miller, Vey or Sutter.
Many. |

I really wonder if Prust will be back after one season or if he is a tdl move. If he plays the whole season and walks, he will have been an expensive rental.
Part of me doesn't want him resigned if JB is going to over pay but if we promote prospects on elc into the lineup the following year, overpaying a little doesn't hurt if it is only for a season or two. - hillbillydeluxe
We are gonna love what Prust brings on/off the ice. |

do you think VAN/BUF would like a redo on that trade? both hodgson and kassian sucked after swapping teams.
10th overall becomes hodgson who becomes kassian who becomes prust.
poor asset management but i guess it's better to have a good 4th liner (prust) than a guy with upside (kassian) who can't even stick in the nucks lineup. |

Sbisa = PMD

While I think that you were being slightly melodramatic, I am sure that Nucker, in his/her/its superior wisdom, would agree with your decription as Sbisa a "Port Mortem Defenseman" |

Sounds like his gf wants to stay in Montreal... Would he go back there after being traded?
I am not against resigning him. Don't want too much of an overpayment, the cap isn't going anywhere. But we might have room if prospects earn spots over the next few seasons...
I am not down on the team so far. Just curious to see it in action.

Don't even bother. Says they both suck. and that means poor asset management. and then says it is better to have Prust as a 4th liner than Kassian as a 3rd. So which is it? hook set. |

Shout out to all the mods for not banning the troll quoted above last night, guess it was pretty clear, "for none of them", to really care whether the canucks blog has any form of civility, respectability or dignified decorum from posters such as the eloquent, articulated self-centered/self-absorbed individual quoted above.
My only observation can be because all the mods are from the same fan base as the fine individual above... |
