Henrik and Tanev and I'd say this team is right there with Arizona and Toronto for bottom of the league. - Nucker101
Not quite there, but pretty close. |

Again I'll be surprised if he's on the team. Benning preached consistency and if the Jr camp is any indication then he hasn't improved. |

Not if WD get's his way this year. |

Did you forget you still have DION AND Lupul on the team . It is not like Leafs have gone full rebuild. That is this years roster and projected bottom 5 team - VANTEL
but Dion sucks and having him on the ice gives the leafs a better chance at losing. Lupul is injured every other game so that's pretty irrelevant too.
sedins are still good players. not PPG but should still get 60-70 points. good enough to ensure the nucks don't finish bottom 3 thats for sure.
arizona/toronto/carolina/new jersey will be fighting it out for matthews. can't rule out edmonton since they always get 1st overall.
only way nucks get a top pick is if they win the lottery. |

I think due to his speed/size that he could be fine playing in a limited role to start the season like Horvat. Benning will push for him to be on the team for sure. |

He didn't last year and he was wrong so I doubt he'll have any more of a say now. Horvat was more NHL-ready than JV though. |

There is one open spot with less than a million. it will either be Biega JV or Grenier |

Shouldn't be long before he starts showing his true colours.
I predict he will be banned by the end of the day. |

Probably JV, could be more than one if an injury hits. |

I keep thinking how they stretched out the 9 games for Horvat. He has a little injury and goes to Utica for a conditioning stint and then back to the Canucks. I think it was towards the end of November before he actually played 8 or 9 NHL games and they announced he would be staying.
Guessing JV will get his 9 games and be sent back to junior.
They will try to keep that roster spot/seat in the press box open to move waiver exempt players back and forth. Grenier will get time with the big club, along with Cassels at some point. Biega will be an emergency call up or something... |

a couple training camp injuries could really shuffle the lines and create opportunities for some players... |

Personally I am not a negative person and I almost always disagree Nucker but to say that this team is in a better position is a silly statement. We don't know. I haven't seen any wins via trade. Hell I don't really see an actual goal or direction. The only thing I can say is JB has made changes and he has followed through with them. Are we better? F@ck no, but the changes promised are happening and I am okay with that.

I am happy there is some change too.
What is interesting is much of the core is still intact less Kesler and Bieksa.
It is almost like put up or pfo with your ntc for the core players remaining.
We won't really know what the team is like until we have played 20 games. Will it have a new identity? Good chemistry? Will the addition of Prust give the team a little more confidence/swagge? |

Identity comes with the core, it won't suddenly change. Prust isn't a feared fighter, I doubt teams will play less physical or the Canucks will suddenly play like LA/ANA/WPG |

Probably, they need to ship out more expensive contracts though. |
