did you forget you paid a bottom 6 player Sutter 4M+ to be your 2nd line C?

If you go back and read the comments, there were more than a couple of people who thought it was an overpayment.

Agreed. I thought Saguinetti was the Comets best dman overall though. Corrado looked better than Clendening in the AHL yet in the NHL I thought Clendening looked better. Just goes to show that it's hard to evaluate a player solely off of just watching them 5 or 6 times.

Corrsdo's development has slowed down the past 2 years, he looked really promising during the year the Sharks swept us.

I think some players just play better when playing with better players. If you are seeing the game faster than others at one level you don't always play well. When you are moved to a higher level your game may not improve but it looks like it because you're playing at a level that you are supposed to be at. Not saying that is the case but I see it a lot.

You are correct and I may have been one of those and my reasoning was because he wasn't a scoring Defenceman but too me his other attributes far out weigh the lack of shot.

I am one of those guys . I still think a guy that has 40 hits and 2 goals that it is an overpayment.

He is our best D man but that is a statement more to how bad our D is ..

You're probably right, some players are unique in that way or it could also just be a mental thing as well. Clendening was rumoured to be upset that CHI sent him back down so maybe he wasn't going all out in Utica.

I do believe that any player with a legit ability to be a top 4 NHL dman or top 6 NHL forward should look great in the AHL after their first full pro season adjustment and frankly neither of Corrado/Clendening did.

At least this Summer our total cap hit for the 3 new Dmen is 4 mill for all 3. Finally paying players their worth.

Hits and goals make Dion Phaneuf look like a stud. Flawed way to judge a dman. Hell, Ryan Suter looks meh using those 2 stats as well.

Ryan Suter is not worth 10 mil. No DMan is.

And the Canucks have arguably the weakest defensive depth in the league after the top 3 it's:

Sbisa
Corrado
Weber
Bartkowski
Fedun
Biega
Pedan

That's Oiler/Leaf like.

His stats in jr/ahl weren't eye-popping but the people who watched him play loved him plus his development has been great since getting drafted, he's gotten bigger and added speed as well.

Nick "he sucks now" Bonino as well, but late bloomers are very rare.

Like the leafs did to Bozak? Glass houses pal.

Why don't you come back and tell us how to run a team after your team can go 2 years in a row not finishing bottom 10.

- VANTEL

bozak averaged ~48 points last 3 non lockout seasons. sutter averaged ~30points.

leafs gave up zero assets to acquire bozak. nucks gave up bonino, clendening and a pick upgrade.

nice try

Henrik and Tanev and I'd say this team is right there with Arizona and Toronto for bottom of the league.

I never ever said he impressed me personally. I never said he sucked either but he isn't a conventional skater and I never liked that. He always look like he was playing hurt.

I did laugh at how Shorthouse would also suggest he's hurt not knowing that it was actually just the way Bonino skates

Bonino's skating sucks and Tanev has a powder puff shot and doesn't hit, while Sutter is 6'3" with speed, nice shot and a great last name, and Sbisa is big/fast, physical and has a heavy shot but to me that doesn't mean poop if you don't play well.

Tanev shuts down star players on a nightly basis and makes his defensive partner better. I don't care how he looks doing it.

Bonino produced decently and was a great value with his cap hit which means he had solid trade value in a time where everyone is looking to shed salary.

Sbisa allows a ton of goals against inferior lines and doesn't provide any offense. He's a total liability, I dint care if he levelled Jaromir Jagr.

Sutter is a 30-35 point player who has a history of being a poor playmaking center and is certainly not worth the contract he just got.

It's just my opinion but the evidence is right there.

Never trust a goalie to understand skating especially one who couldn't stay on his.
