Yep be patient.

I'm not crazy about the Sutter trade. Being in a rebuild and moving a 2nd and Clendenning seems a bit counter productive, dispute the fact that Sutter is probably the best player now and has the highest potential.
However, the contract is a steal. They paid him Bozak/Frolik /Pouliott money. And there is no debate he is far superior to any of those guys in both skill and intangables

- Bieksa#3

I'd take Frolik over him personally but that's just me.

I don't think it's a stretch to call Sutter a grittier version of Vermette(in his prime)
- Bieksa#3

I don't see what makes him grittier to be honest and Vermette in his prime had more skill and better offensive hockey sense from what I saw.

You need to watch Biega more. Meat and potatoes defender. And Corrado is more of a Tanev. Clendenning has far superior offensive skill
- Bieksa#3

I agree that Clendening is the best out of the 3 in terms of skill but honestly none of them are really high upside players, realistically their upside is likely a solid bottom pairing defender which can be found pretty easily.

If

Clendenning was moved from the Hawks , we didn't have room for him , and I don't see room for him on the Pens

Frolik to me is just a smarter player all around and better defensively on the PK. I view Sutter as a decent 3rd liner and Frolik as an elite one.

I see Sutter as a 2/3 Centre but more importantly , so does Benning

Yeah, it's looking like they should have just kept Forsling, he has more time to work on his weaknesses and can still develop physically(speed and/or strength).

The draft pick part and the Sutter contract is what annoys me. And the fact that Benning paid higher prices for players like Vey and Pedan than what he sold Clendening for despite all 3 being in similar situations. Little things like that make a difference. It chips away at the team's assets.

Any team with him as a second line center better have some amazing 2nd line wingers or they're (frank)ed imo.

I think Sutter will surprise people but not this year. I don't see him being successful with Higgins Vrbata. I think next year when they have cap space to bring in a young tough second line player is when he will shine.

Kesler had that same problem here. See my post above.

Kesler had some great years here before he lost a step. Sutter is definitely not what Kesler was in his prime.

Vrbata is a way better option for Sutter here than what he had to work with in PIT. Agree that Higgins may not bring Sutter much but I do think Vrbata will help him along if that's where Vrbata is slotting in. Burrows might be able as well.

Sutter is a horrible playmaker, doubt he'll thrive with a sniper.

Kesler was a one man show. I think he had his best year this year, when he actually had top 6 forwards to play with.

Keslers best year as a Canuck IMO was when he was third line with Burrows. Linemates can make you or break you.

I think a guy like Hansen could help Sutter but we need him to help Bo.

Sutter needs a digger and a sniper. He will be fine once he gets decent linemates

Really? Save a couple weeks kesler was not a very good offensive 5 on 5 player ever if my memory serves me correctly.

Does it not appear JB prefers shoot first centers?

I know Hank sure as hell ain't a shoot first centre . Never thought Bo was one. I see Bo as an all around guy. I have no idea who our fourth line centre is this year.

I don't have enough proof to confirm or deny

Quite simply, Higgins should not be on the 2nd line.

Kesler had a stronger two-way game so he was still very valuable as a center despite his faults. I'd argue that it was easier to score goals with him as your center than Sutter.
