Not simple ones.

You know what's hilarious ?

Tanner posted Rundbland's possession numbers and how they were so much better than Seabrook's. Just goes to show how stats can be manipulated.

I had CBC newsworld on earlier, and even the anchor there commented on Kane, wasn't even the sports guy.

Wondering if it will even be mentioned in the states outside of Chicago?

Seabrook played way tougher minutes and Rundblad played very easy minutes on a stacked team. Yannick Weber likely would have great possession numbers playing in that same situation as well.

That's why these HERO charts and corsi alone are stupid. And the anti-advanced stats crowd thinks that the nerds only use corsi and hero charts to evaluate a player, but there's so much more that really gives you a great idea of how good a player is.

[quote=belcherbd]I don't know how you can so confidently state that Benning has improved this team in 2 successive seasons.

We make the playoffs after a dismal Torts episode with the additions of Dorsett, Horvat (Benning pushed him in the lineup), Miller, Sbisa, Bonino, Vrbata, plus coach Desjardins..when we were pretty much not picked by anyone to get there...So I'd call that a massive improvement over the previous season under Gillis/Torts.

With the first round exit to the Flames even more changes were/are apparent so replacing Richardson(who was hurt all the time) with Horvat, Prust for Kassian(cancer and cokehead), Sutter for Bonino (who could barely skate at points of the season), Bieksa who was god-awful last year is finally off the roster so him just being out of the lineup is an improvement. Plus Miller would have had 40 wins last year if not injured. Matthias is gone was one of the softest players I have ever seen for that size...We have opened up a few spots most likely for Baertchi and Virtanen...who will both be potentially (this year possibly) better than Higgins and well Higgins lol PLUS we should see Frankie Corrado slot into the top 6 with Edler Tanev Hamhuis Sbisa Weber Corrado. We finally have a right hand shot on the PP (Weber) who can skate the puck and hit the net although I do have concerns on Weber long term...

Sure there are question marks for this season and the potential of play I just see that we have gotten rid of some issues for better options just like the previous season. Other than the Sbisa signing which the jury is still out on...IMO the improvements are there.

For all the negativity you've posted over the past couple of months do you not feel the team is in a better position than it was a year ago ?

I tend to agree with both you and Mr. belcher, after the Torts experiment every media know-it-all had the canucks as cellar dwellers, everyone, our own fan base also was questioning the the teams skill-set...Sedin brothers were done and ready for the pasture.

New management, a few tweaks and 101pts season, can be looked as an improvement over the Torts experiment year.

Now so far this year, JB has made some other moves that many are scratching the heads over, but until the games are actually played I don't think it's fair to label this as an improvement.

Honest question...what would define an improvement? Do they have to get 102pts or better? What's the measuring stick? Would picking 1-3 overall be considered an improvement?

I admit, I only watched 82 regular season games and 6 playoff games last season, but I thought that Miller kind of sucked. On the Dubnyk scale he ranked a lot closer to Edmonton Dubnyk than Minnesota Dubnyk.
- CubanBuffet

Miller had games where he stole them, had games where he played good and had some not great ones. He only had a couple stinkers.

BTW couple is 2.

I had a feeling that you would take exception to that post.

I thought Miller was fine. He won games. I can't argue that.
But I don't think he was six million dollars worth of fine and I don't think that he was any better than Lack and I am honestly concerned that he will be marginally worse next season.

I hope I'm wrong, because I will be cheering for him. He's going to be a huge factor in where we ultimately finish up. The Canucks are nowhere near good enough to compensate for poor goaltending, but if they receive above average goaltending then they could surprise us.

Driving home this past long weekend the highway was full of those f@cking retards. I was ready to lose my $hit. Then when they finally did pull over they would speed up and try to prevent you from passing before the passing lane ended. I swear these a$$holes do it on purpose.
- thundachunk

Ive noticed that too. Or how theyll speed to prevent you from passing or get to be 1st in line then slow down to a crawl once theyve achieved that. Maddening

Personally I am not a negative person and I almost always disagree Nucker but to say that this team is in a better position is a silly statement. We don't know. I haven't seen any wins via trade. Hell I don't really see an actual goal or direction. The only thing I can say is JB has made changes and he has followed through with them. Are we better? F@ck no, but the changes promised are happening and I am okay with that.

Nobody thinks he is a 6 mill player. We can all agree on that but to say that Lack was better is silly. I would take Miller over Lack any day. He won't be worse. I give personal guarantee. Not that that means f@ck all but I have a ton more faith in Miller and his consistency.
