Its called selective memory, most often used by wives and girlfriends to torture their loved ones - Steelmanpa

No it's still okay............still think he plays selfish often but he could be somebody who makes Canada after not even getting serious consideration last year.
This short tourney also doesn't mean to much if they don't win. But it is an evaluation Canada takes very seriously. |

LOL, so a team such as the Chicago blackhawks, or New York Rangers, or Pittsburgh Pens, who consider themselves contenders for the upcoming season, aren't process oriented? - MJL
I have no expectations for this season. Don't really care if they miss or make the playoffs. I do want the younger players to continue to mature and have good seasons. I don't think Hexy is much different. This is a bottom 10 club to me. The depth isn't there. It's fine. Next year in my opinion is a throw away year. Its a year where I'm sure a lot of stuff is getting done behind the scenes. But in 10-15 years I'm sure we'll look back at it and it will be foggy...blurry. Kind of like Andy Reid's first year...Charlie Manuels first couple years. What I remember from those teams basically started in '01 and '07 respectively. The years before at the start of the success were blurry because there was little to no expectations and there were rosters getting turned over. That's what the Flyers have going here I hope.
As far as the process talk. It's interesting and I'm real curious to see how Hak uses Coots in particular. Besides benching MDZ, Amac late in the season, and giving Umberger big minutes I didn't have much of a problem with how Berube ran the team. I felt like he had to use Coots the way he did, the heavy D zone starts in order to win games. He didn't misuse him, he used him perfectly in order to give the team the best opportunity to win the game. This however may have stunted his offensive game giving him less opportunity to impact the game. But his other options were throwing who out...Laughton? Vinny?
Brayden Schenn has been with us for 3, 4? years now and we still don't know what position he plays. Still don't have a plan on where he fits. A lot of it is on him, but I can't help but think if we had started this process sooner we'd have a better idea of where he stands because maybe there would have been more patience with him instead of rearranging the deck chairs to chase the playoff dream

I think there's a lot of solid points made here, except for the part where you think Hextall is much different. I would disagree with that. I think it's a pretty safe bet that Hextall has expectations for this team, and thinks they can compete for a playoff spot. Previously, you talked about building a culture, a big part of that is creating a mind set, and a culture of a winning attitude. I can guarantee that both Hextall and Hakstol don't have the mindset that this upcoming season is a throw away season, and don't have expectations. Neither of them, or any of the players or other coaches would be worth a dam if they thought that way. Personally, I wouldn't want any player, coach, or executive involved with the Flyers if they felt that way. |
