Time will tell. - VANTEL
As always.
As an aside, we really do need something new to talk about. I feel like this has been covered to death already. |

Everything has been covered to death. And nobody agrees on anything. So we're going to have to cover it all again. We're like a hung jury, with less take out. |

Sutter is trash we should never have made the deal then pay a third line center over 4 mil, sweet deal. Could have bonino and mathias for the same price as sutter if not less. Benning is trash im done. wake me up when is fired. - mauryballstein

I think we like we're all fairly amicable and like to play devil's advocate on a lot of these topics. That is, when we're not waylaid on troll-swatting duties. |

What's the over and under on Sutter's production? The optimist in me says he'll have a mini-breakthrough season and get around 50 points (that said, you don't want to hear what the pessimist in me has to say ) |

I think 20 goals 30 assists is very doable with the linemates he's likely to have. Whether he's the 2A/2B C (which is what I see with how WD rolls his lines) playing with Baertschi and Vrbata or Higgins and Burrows should allow him to have better production than he did in Pittsburg. If he can win 50%+ on FOs and play a 200 foot game, even if his production is close to what it was last year on Pittsburg, that'll be fine with me.
I still believe Benning isn't done, I think he's going to make one more move to solidfy our D-core (either resigning Hamhuis to a 2-year retirement deal to mentor Hutton/Subban/Corrado/etc or trading him for a NHL-ready LHD prospect and a 1st) |

Pretty funny watching Virtanen tonight.
He drove the puck to the net so aggressively one shift that he decked the czech player who flew and the czech player took out like 2 other guys standing in front of the net in the process.

I'm not going to lie, I thought that it would take a couple at least before being disproven. But nope. Oh well, it made me laugh... |

I only saw the third period, but he looked good. Big and mean with surprisingly good hands. From this point forward I shall refer to him as "The Actual Kassian". |

2 goals and 1 assist and 5 or 6 big hits. He could have easily scored 3 or 4 as he missed a couple from the slot. Beside Point he was the best player on the ice. He skated well all night and showed slick hands as well.
jasek looked decent. He def. has pretty quick skating and he is a pretty shifty player as well. Didn't look that small. |

I wonder what his actual chances are of making the show this year. Prior to the summer starting I was thinking a cup of coffee and then back in the lower leagues. Now that he's been lighting it up I'm not so sure.
If he does make it I think we'll see him with Horvat. |

You watch this video and it shows just how often he'll go right through you with the puck on his stick. Lots of guys avoid hits at all costs when they got the puck, he just says fukk it and gos right through anything in his way and carries on.
I really do think He'll have a very very good career. |

Honestly, I think that it's his to lose, regardless of this World Jr preper. I think Benning wants to get him going. I know that he plays a completely different game than Horvat, but the thing that they have in common is that they can start out in the fourth line and be effective in that role as they develop the rest of their game. |

He might play a different game than Horvat but are they compatible as linemates is the question. I suspect they might be.
But you raise a good point that WD seems to prefer bringing players through the ranks as opposed to "gifting" them a top 6 role. He might be forced to with Baertschi but I also agreed that Virtanen could line up with, say, Prust and Vey and still show something. |

I think you might be right. You just have to look at the instant chemistry that Horvat had with Kennins, and Kennins is basically just Actual Kassian on welfare. |

What worries me about this is, while it's fun to watch, it's multiple injuries waiting to happen. No matter how strong he is, he'll break down pretty quickly. |
