Why do we need a new thread? There's LITERALLY nothing to talk about at this time of year.....
- bcallaway

We are lazy and don't want to have to make an extra click in order to see that there is still nothing going on in here........

On the bright side, if a thread lasts a month+, we can get it over 150 responses!

Just saw the Blues notification. This is even stranger than Lehtera recently getting surgery.

Shoulder surgery, out 4 months. And waiting until the very end of August to do the surgery.......

I do think that this almost assures Fabbri is going to get a really good shot to stay beyond the 9 game trial.

Like you I am starting to question the team on these surgeries

now two players are out for camp and one is out until the all star break

why not do this in April after the blues are bounced

Yeah, I think he will get a good chance to be a regular, but will at least be an extra this year. IMO, he already earned that last year with his play after getting sent down to Chicago.

In a release on the NHL app, it says that he hurt his shoulder training for the upcoming season.......

Unless they are planning on adding another player (hopefully not) this will open up some cap space for the trade deadline.

Steen - Lehtera - Tarasenko
Schwartz - Stastny - Fabbri
Jaskin - Backes - Brouwer
Ott - Brodziak - Reaves

Honestly, this looks even better to me then the lineup with Berglund....

Well now. Things are starting to look up.

There is something to talk about: With Berglund out of the lineup for four months, how will the Blues replace his six goal?

Tarasenko will score six more than he did last year. So anything Fabbri adds will just be gravy.

Good grief. Scott Gomez. I guess the Blues are looking for someone else to add to the front office.

Assistant to the Assistant General Manager.

I say let's give Guy LaFleur a look-see......

The ghost of Bob Gasssssssoffffffffffffff..........

Gotta think that Gomez is there to push Fabri and Rattie around, to see if they're indeed ready for the show. It's certainly not for his faceoff winning percentage...

With Scott Gomez, the Blues are getting FASTER! MORE RECKLESS!

And people wondered why I was so intent on moving him this off season if even for draft picks.....

Does 4 months qualify as LTIR so we can at least get cap relief?

Yes.

I believe if you miss at least 10 games & 24 calendar days, you are eligible for LTIR. So we will be banking some cap space for later in the year.

From: https://www.hockeyscap.com/ltir_faq

When a player has an injury of which they are expected to miss 10 games and 24 days, the team can place them on long term injured reserve (LTIR) to receive cap relief.

Basic Formula Example
The league upper limit is $69M. A team has an averaged club salary of $68M and a player with a cap hit of $5M becomes injured and the team places him on LTIR. The team is now permitted to spend up to a new limit of $72M:
Cap hit of LTIR player is $5M
Amount of cap space available to team = $69M - $68M = $1M
Amount team can exceed the cap = $5M - $1M = $4M
New limit = $68M + $4M = $72M

Paajarvi wiII most IikeIy make the roster lout of camp. He is on a 1 way and we wouId risk Iosing him for nothing if we try to send him down. How much he pIays is aII up to him as Bergy's spot opens up room for 1 of our 2 way pIayers to get ice time they otherwise wouId not have received. Gomez got a t/o with us, that is aII. I do not expect him to get a contract with us. Iike Iast year with Bissonette.

according to what nhI.com says the Biues have waited and hoped he couId pIay without surgery. He injured it monday when he coIIided with a pIayer. this is the same thing that has been bothering him going back a few seasons now. It's terrible that they wouId not teII him to get surgery and fix it in the off season.

not being mean here but is there a Blues blogger on this site? I understand not having much to write about but this is the main reason I chose not to renew my season ticket. Almost no new blog in a month no thanks
