Since you did not ask, who signed Semin to the god awful contract in Carolina??
- flyerdude17

Who did he sign in Pittsburgh to a god awful contract?

Waiting on how he has torn down Pittsburgh. He's done nothing but improve the team all around and clean up Shero's mess.

if that is for "starters" please continue because I'm not seeing it at all...

Despres for Lovejoy was awful. We know it, he knows it, heck Ben Lovejoy probably knows it.

1 bad move doesnt negate the fact that he has made a ton of shrewd moves in his time here.

Fair enough, I am no trying to stir the pot. For me I do not like JR, for the Pens I like them very much. Todays deals are good on paper but will need to see the results after one year. All the best to the Pens, just finish runner up to my Flyers and Blues, lol Have a good day!

Signings are one thing, how they do and where the team finishes will be better proof of whether they were great signings or not. Last year when Ehroff got signed everyone in Pittsburg was overjoyed, the rest is history and seriously it did not work out. Trading Desprees for Lovejoy was a clueless move, right ??
- flyerdude17

Ehrhoff was a fine signing. Not Rutherford's fault he got hurt at all. Lovejoy was a terrible trade. Then again, Cole was a very good one. Kessel was a very good one. Today's moves are great. He claimed to have learned his lesson from the Lovejoy trade and so far, he has been very good. I'm certainly not going to be "haunted" by a trade of a 2nd pairing dman regardless of how poorly executed it was at the time.

If that's the worst thing he does in his time in Pittsburgh, I'll be ok with it. Yes, it was a bad trade. But in the bigger picture, Despres is a 5/6 defenseman with the potential to be a #4. I would like a do over on that trade, but that will never make/break the Pens.

We have to wait and see how this works out, but JR is setting the Pens up to be successful if they can stay healthy. That's really the most you can ask out of GM at this point in the season.

Your trying to make this personal and I am just stating my opinion which I am entitled too, no big deal. I do not like JR and I question his full time sanity. Have a great day. You are not changing my opinion and I am not changing yours, that is the what makes the world go around.

I agree on paper he did an amazing job getting Kessel, I totally approve and he gets full marks for that one. Dmen take longer and Despres was actually the Ducks best dman in the playoffs last year. He could still be much more than a 3/4 pairing. Kessel could still be a bust but I would have gambled on him too.

I'm curious to see what Sammy and OP have to say. Even they have to be slowly but surely backing away from that cliff.

Way better deal for the Pens. Good going. I would love to have Bonino on the Kings.

Underrated part of the trade: We traded a Canadian for a red blooded American. Let's keep saving those patriots from the Great White North, folks!

Just give Pittsburgh the cup now! They swapped 3rd line centers based on a useless corsi stat. And paid $2million for a 4th liner. Haha.

Fehr was just on double MM show. Said he signed with pens because of the oportinity he was given which they apparently told him that he could flank 87 & 71 on wing and to play 3rd line center. So is Bonino our 4c?!?! Eveything i read is that he will be the the 3c.

Where do you think the new guys should be sloted?

Should we trade Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Fluery, Hornqvist and Mattaa because they are not American?? I know you're just trying to make a witty comment, but it's pretty ignorant considering the US is behind Canada, Russia and Sweden as far as the hockey hierarchy goes.

I see both Fehr and Bonino as 3Cs or top 9 wingers. I say let chemistry dictate who slots where. If I'm guessing I'd say Bonino ends up as 3C and Fehr ends up playing top 9 wing. If Sundqvist ends up not being ready for 4th line duties, then one of those two can take over at 4C. Likely Bonino.

Hahaha relax man. I've been joking about "saving" the American hockey players that are stuck in Canada since I got here.

2 months ago I was done with this team. Felt like they had no direction. I feel a lot differently today. Hopefully they play to the level I think they can this season
