They did not have to give up Stroman, Sanchez, Osuna or Norris to get Donaldson or Tuli .. thats great - senstroll
Stroman and Osuna were not on the table.
Hoffman will be better than Norris IMO....he's the one guy I didnt want to move.
glad we got rid of Reyes, his defense was declining...but we didnt save any money, didnt address a quality relief pitcher (hawkings is ok) and we coughed up some prospects.
But TT brings more power and an upgrade at short. |

Yeah I am not following where people are seeing a problem with this trade. It's a great trade.
Like they said on the radio this morning. AA, just dropped the mic on the league and walked out of the room.
between this, and the Donaldson trade, I think they should keep AA regardless of where they finish this year. - Aetherial
Its a big trade out of nowhere.
But he needs to address pitching in the off season. |

I agree
http://www.fangraphs.com/...-and-upgrading-strengths/
While I’m sure there will be plenty of people arguing that the Blue Jays should have taken the path of least resistance and upgraded the pitching staff instead, the reality in baseball is that a run is a run is a run. You win games by outscoring your opponents, and you don’t get any less credit for winning 7-5 than you do 5-3. Troy Tulowitzki will help the Blue Jays score more runs, so while he’s not going to help the team’s run prevention improve that much, those runs he creates will still count in the final tally.
When people argue against upgrading strengths, they’re really arguing for the presence of diminishing returns, but in baseball, the evidence actually supports the idea that adding a good hitter to an already good line-up actually returns a higher level of value, not a lower one.
Based on reports AA is trying to get a SP, the offer for carasco is big..but still wasnt enough.. He is just not willing to trade 2/3 top prospects for a 10-15 game rental |

$34M off the books, this offense is loaded, should be much easier now to sign a big arm or two to join Stroman, Hutch, Sanchez and Norris. |

Probably how fast he's went through the organization. But if I recall Dustin McGowan did the exact same thing, before blowing up his arm. I think Harris made this trade easier to do. Plus four more top 60 picks this season. |

Reyes reminds me of JVR
Leafs losing 8- 1, JVR big smile on his face
Jays getting crushed, Reyes acts like hes (frank)ing winning the game
cant stand player like that, like nothing matters and everything is a joke all the time - poohcrumbs
Now we are going to pick on JVR, geez give me a break - is there lots of video of this on YouTube, maybe I am missing something? Just seems like many devalue the players like crazy on this team. First its Kessel, then Dion and now we are going to go after JVR the guy with the great contract who is still young and has upside on our first line. |

He needs to (frank)ing turn it up a notch, had a great start last year and then went flatter than piss on a plate
And stop that (frank)ing fancy poop too

they should get another 1st from Beurle
Baseball prospects are such unknowns..we only hear about the few that work out and not the hundreds that dont

The trade on it's own is fine. It's a great deal on the surface.
However, how does AA or anyone think this makes the team closer to the playoffs? AA seems to think they'll just out hit everyone.
All I think is that yes AA has made moves to improve the club in the positions he's done it in. SS and 3rd Base. I don't like the fact that those positions weren't the highest on the "need" list.
If he was willing to trade Hoffman I think a pitcher could have been had. Hopefully he gets one. |

That's nice and all but the bats in their prime only have a year left. If they aren't pushing to win then I doubt they re-sign. |

Hmm, but didn't the entire team fall flat last year with the exception of a few?
The guy has talent and value, I don't care if he tries that fancy stuff once in a while, sure every game is a bit much but not enough bother me at this point. |

Ive really liked Hoffman ever since the Jays got him.
Again, just an opinion.

If you're a free agent this offseason, and you are looking for a team that provides run support, and need an example of how that run support can positively impact your record (drew hutchinson), you just may consider joining said team that is the Blue Jays. Not to mention 20M (beurle) 12M (Richardey) 2M (difference in Reyes and Tulu's salary)=34M off the books. |

Also, tolu has some injury issues.....and playing on turf wont help that out.
I hope it works out.
Hopefully this means Edwin will be traded. |

Joey Bats and Edwin? Maybe this is about preemptively making life easier without them too. Just saying, lots of reasons. |

Its a lot of cash...but you need 3 starters and bullpen help and cash left over to sign Bautista next year. |

This sets up Marting, Donaldson and Tolu to be your cornerstones to replace Edwin and Bautista. |

If you read the article I posted..an example is Houston adding Kazmir
Over the remainder of this season, the gap between the two shortstops is estimated at roughly one win, or roughly the same upgrade the Astros got by adding Scott Kazmir to their rotation, and again, that’s without considering the non-linear nature of run scoring. So, while going from Reyes to Tulowitzki might not be quite as impactful in 2015 value as landing a guy like Johnny Cueto, the upgrade is along the same lines as adding any of the next tier of pitchers.
always other things to consider
