just not enough return - Fountain-San
Yandle's value has never been lower but the reduced cap hit doesn't mean that value dips by much. I doubt they trade him because he is a legit top four option despite his poor play at the end of the season. Remember Vermette had similar struggles when leaving Phoenix. I agree Boyle is likely the odd man out if they need to shed salary to be compliant but I doubt anyone takes him and if that scenario were to arise I'd offer Koko and a second. Doubt K Miller gets it done. |

Exactly and ARZ retained half on yandle, so for him he makes peanuts on NYR cap, they would move MANY bodies before Yandle |

Boyle has a NMC, he may waive to go somewhere...but it's not like they can just make him disappear into thin air. |

Klein may go before him, (but they would need Klein next season after Yandle leaves for his $7m UFA signing).
The Rags are finding out how tough it is to keep their forwards with half their cap going to the 6 defensemen, & Hank. |

There's been a lot of rumors of Yandle going to Boston, and with him being a local guy, I wouldn't doubt that those rumors are true. That being said, I would imagine that he would be discussing resigning with the Rangers, as his contract is coming to an end, and if he says that he doesn't want to resign there, I would guess that the Rangers would look to move him (I'm talking around the deadline). And if they do look to move him, I would bet that the B's would be the top team looking to acquire him. What that is going to cost will probably depend on what shape the Rangers are in at that point. If they're in playoff contention, it's going to be a big return. If they're on the outside looking in, then we would probably be able to get him on the cheap. |

So here is an interesting read.
http://www.prosportsdaily...lArticle?articleId=365562 - dothedougie
Guess the Flames PR guys really had to fine tune what he was gonna say when he finally broke his silence. A Bruin for life? Give me a break. If he really wanted to be a Bruin he'd still be one. I really doubt Sweeney wanted his first big move to be shipping Dougie off to Calgary for a bag of pucks.
Add onto it that Treliving has made it his personal mission to make Hamilton look like a saint to the media, saying any and all rumors of Dougie being difficult or uppity or whatever is "crap" and it could very well be, those statements don't appear to come from any of his former team mates or the front office and while its to be expected sticking up for your guys but to talk as if he were there, regardless of whether or not he's right must kind of comes off as trying to shift the blame away from Hamilton.
There's the nagging issue of Claude having something to do with it but considering Julien took Spooner to the woodshed last year in the media and had him come back and play out of his mind it doesn't look very good on Dougie considering he was playing with the captain, was never healthy scratched from what I recall and was playing first pairing minutes on a cup contender (13-14 season) it again, goes back to Hamilton.
In reality it may be as simple as Hamilton wanting to play in Canada because his parents are Olympians and he wants to continue that in some regard. I don't doubt if he formally requested a trade that Sweeney and Neely would've accommodated him and the return would've been better. How they didn't at least get one of Klimchuk, Poirier, Wotherspoon or even Kris Russell along with the first is just mind boggling. |

If the Rags are contenders again, (they should be), I wonder how that can move him before the playoffs?
He only makes them that much better in the playoff run.
I can't see him signing with them either, if they're looking to move out a salary for cap relief, Kreider will eat up Boyle's salary next season. |

He wouldnt comment on his contract negotiations with the bruins either. But given that they were 250k apart, I doubt that would be the cause of him getting traded. If he wasnt happy with the bruins, it would be really nice to know why. I think the entire hockey world raised an eyebrow about the return for him. Would have been nice to get a roster player back, but there is nothing we can do about it now.
Was just thinking how funny it would be if the Bruins ended up playing the flames in the SCF. The Giordano-Hamilton pairing is going to be dirty.

Well last year they used him on the 3rd pairing in the playoffs... so they didn't get much value from him then. Granted he came over at the deadline, so maybe they just wanted to give him more time to learn the system or some crap. But if they plan on having him on the third pairing again come playoff time, then I would think they would definitely be looking to move him. That being said... I'd love to have Kreider on the B's... can we go after him too? |

Back in high school I watched three of my classmates chase down a kid wearing a Red Wings jersey during the playoffs and almost ripped the thing off his back and somebody in Lightning gear got stabbed during the SCF years ago. Flames fans are mostly as fair weather as they come but people here go out of their minds when it comes to playoffs and I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that.
The Flames should've taken a run at a reliable stay at home vet to play with Dougie or Brodie on the second pair. A defense of
Gio Brodie
Dougie Oduya (or someone like that)
Russell Wideman
Would be downright scary. |

I smell an offer sheet.
I still don't understand the Yandle move, as you said they acquired him and used him on the 3rd pairing. Granted, I understand the deal was to have him for a pittance of the salary he's worth, but when they were already stocked with 5 solid defensemen?
And then there were murmurs that he wasn't all that great in the defensive zone.
Duh, he's an offensive defenseman, were they trying to put a square peg in a round hole? For a defensive minded team that has to allow Nash to cherry pick for his 40 goals, the move still didn't make sense. |

In my opinion, Calgary is a very nice city. Downtown is in the middle of a pretty lush (for the prairies) river valley and the downtown core is surrounded in all directions by blocks and blocks of cool stores and restaurants. Nice zoo, lots of parks, close to the mountains. Very few run down or crime infested neighborhoods, I like it here.
Nothing like Winnipeg, Regina, Edmonton or any of the other Western Canadian poop holes. |

Pretty much.
Was on the phone with a cousin who lives there last week. He was approached twice while I was talking to him by people looking for meth, he was from what I could tell just walking down the street minding his own business.
I've been there maybe 8 or 9 times in my life and can't say I'd ever want to live there. The two cities really couldn't be more different and I guess I should be pretty grateful for that. |

And cool neighbourhoods in the inner city. Mission and Kensington are the best places to live, work, and play in. Get the best of both worlds living in those places |
