I'm guessing Franson isn't getting the type of offer he's looking for so go 1 year for 5.5

not an unreasonable idea. Could sell him at the deadline if we're not contending too.

cheap owner may prevent them from being a real threat but in the meantime their present day roster is superior to ours. Agreed on Florida, i expect them to continue getting better though.

I really like Bjugstad. He's probably my favorite player on that team.

Larsson is easily ahead of Gionta.

Bailey and Baptiste are easily ahead of Rodrigues.

For sure. I'd rather do this then anything else. If we do land him I think getting rid of Weber would be our best choice to make a little room on the backend.

Is there really anyone left out there for the RW issue? Or are we not really concerned about that?

Think we let Weber play a few weeks . I'm not giving up on him yet. A better team around him might help him be better. Same with all the players.

Semin
Erat
Ryder
Kopecky
Cleary
Kaleta
Crombeen
Orr
Karlsson
Stempniak

Those are the top 10 as of their last salary that are out there

Or...a different site has a different list...

So I'm guessing we are or would be aiming for Semin or Erat.

The Cleary situation is interesting to me.

I get the feeling they're not really looking to do much there just because we have too many guys at C. Someone is gonna have to move to wing.

Gionta is the only true RWer on the Sabres roster. He is their captain. He is ahead of Larsson.

I'm guessing a couple will we only have one "real" RW. I know everyone has Ennis pegged for top line and you have Gionta at RW but im assuming he hangs on 3rd or 4th.

If Murray elects to add a D man (big if until training camp), it'll be via trade.

As I continue to point out, expect depth until then. You can take the info as u wish, I'm in no competition with anyone.

Have a great weekend all.

It's that time of year. Summer doldrums. The notatable UFAs (as few as there have been) have all been signed. The draft is over, prospect camp is over. Most of the RFAs that needed to be signed have already. And there's probably about 2 months left before the opening of training camp.

No hurry. Just promote McCabe mid-season, if feasible.

If McCabe shows better than the (Under 1 Million Dollar NHL D-Men Murray picked up) like 3-4 of them, then he stays on the big club. I'm not worried about losing the worst of the Vet D we picked up if we have to send him down to AHL, If McCabe proves to be better, Him and his LEFT HAND will be on our 3rd pairing if not he goes back for another half or full year of seasoning.

Don't agree - if you can get Cody for free (meaning givng up no prospects because he's an UFA) you do it

Why does everyone want Franson? We don't need another right-handed D. I hope Murray holds out for a left-handed D in a trade.

Because we don't have to trade anyone to get him, we can potentially get him on a short term deal, he has respectable possession stats, and can man the point on the powerplay.

Plus, as has been stated numerous times recently, Pysyk may shoot right but was a LHD all last year in Rochester and Coach B says Risto can play either side. Playing offwing as a D actually is advantageous in the o zone (better angles) while no being as ideal in the D zone
