We kept teams to low scoring considering . We lost many 1-0 and 2-1 games last season. We just couldn't score.

I second this...

Granted I tuned out at points int he season but its not like we were a last place team that got beat 6-2 every night.

I just don't see it. He will be 35 years old in October. He was a 4th D-man rotating with Rosizival for bottom pairing for most of the season and playoffs. He had the worst rating and numbers of the Chicago D-men in the playoffs.
- JVince11

Anyone considering him a savior is buying hype, pure and simple. But he's a decent middle pairing defenseman who IMO rates at or above Georges in capability, and would fill a hole. After 3 years who cares.

I honestly believe that between Bogo, Pysyk, Risto, and Gorges... we can find a top 4 that is very suitable.

I think we should only chase a player like Oduya if you are missing "that one piece" that puts you into deep contention. I just don't see Oduya as our missing piece. We need a 30 years or less type veteran guy. Granted, they don't grow on trees but to just throw money out there doesn't seem smart. We are over the floor now I believe.

Albeit, on a cup winning team!!
Look, we just need an average player for a few years!!
He will not be a cornerstone on our team's defense.
So what do we call a player like that ?? A stop-gap??

they have no defense though I'm not saying we're some powerhouse I'm just explaining to him that they're not even close to a cup
- gerbe75pts

They had how many more wins than we did? They are closer.

It's not like they aren't talented either

Who sees him as a savior? He is a 4-5 defenseman. He is also left-handed and doesn't cost us any prospects.

I'd agree with this.. Unfortunately on this team he'd be a top pairing guy. If Murray can maybe slimmer of hope pull off a September deal then I'd say wait but 3 years 15 million would be what I'd hope the offer is and a fair one for this year at that.

He won't be top pairing unless he earns it. That will sort itself out over the next two years. He fits a need and price wasn't a concern because of our cap number.

If you're counting on 2 rookies (basically) and a guy who just had microfracture surgery on his knee to fill out the top 4, you're looking to be a lottery winner again in 2016 IMHO (Matthews anyone??)

If you just want a stop gap defenseman then whats the point. There are plenty of those guys out there, go sign defenseman x for less money.

Because money/cap space isn't an issue? I would over pay for him, but only on a shirt term deal, two years maybe. I'd feel a lot better about this teams playoff chances if they had one more solid NHL defenseman.

Who would that be? He and Erhoff are markedly better than anything left and I doubt Hoff is an option.

Further proof we deserve JO (though this is quite the stretch):

This thread is about to go over 1,000 posts
The DAL one from a day earlier is at 45. Rabid fan base in Dal, huh?

I don't know about anyone else, but, I do not want to even think about finishing last, tanking, ......... or anything in that line, after what we went through as fans these past 2 years!!!

People are calling him a stop gap defenseman, how does that speak well to him. What about Anton Volchenkov, he's left handed, is he a stop gap too?

Well hypothetically he's on this team which is not a give in

Oduya Gorges Weber Donovan....

Oduya is the best LHD out of that group no question

They mean he doesn't have to come in and set the world on fire. He can be a mid-pairing defenseman, shoot left handed and maybe help out on the PP. And in 3 years you hope we have better, younger D.

Everyone who posts about their major disappointment when we don't sign him will qualify.
