ICYMI on Periscope: #Stars acquire Patrick Sharp and Steven Johns from @NHLBlackhawks in exchange for Ryan Garbutt and Trevor Daley
Legit....
Garbutt is a good scrappy player, Daley might do even better with a better overall D that CHI has. Solid trade - Ur Not Me
I love Trevor Daley. Was always hoping he'd be a free agent. This is just as good. |

Daley... 16 g/22 a last year! Not bad. But Garbut... man that kid can fly. |

@MikeHeika: I believe they are keeping all of Sharp's salary and part of Garbutt's. |

I wonder if DAL is eating some of the $$?
This doesn't make much sense otherwise... |

They both suck. And just gave the Best D prospect they have to the Stars. Horrible trade. - TTtime
I don't think so, Garbutt is not Sharp, but he's younger and scrappy who can chip in goals, Daley is a solid dman that never had a good enough partner, almost similar to Oduya in style of play..... |

Great return! Daley is solid!!!
Edit: just saw johns included. Why?!?! - EnzoD
He is a bottom pair player. He blows. Oduya is far better. |

Good news, it looks like the salary may not be a wash after all:

Dominos. Wondering if hawks traded a 5.9 cap hit for a 3.3 and 1.8 cap hit because daley may be easier to trade. Easier to trade lower cap hits that almost a 34 year old 5.9 cap hit. However, hate to lose johns since need more not fewer elc players |

Garbutt blows. He is a glorified goon. I have seen them play plenty. Daley blows in his own end. He and Oduya are different types of players totally. Daley is an offensive D-man. |

Agreed on Johns. Means Hawks see TVR is a vital part on the D group now. Now the question.. is JO no longer in the plans? |

Don't remember JJ mentioning this as potentially happening since the original Dallas trade talks died. Interesting indeed |

Well now they are both Blackhawks so I'm sure they will elevate their game and become perennial all stars. I just hope Toews can talk to them both and get them to be team players |

If they Garbutt like they used Stalberg, itll be fine. Speed kills in the NHL. Keep the game simple for Garbutt and turn him loose. |

Pokka will be better than Johns. - Dabearshawks
doubt it. Pokka is an offense only guy. Johns has size and a two way game. Pokka is a smurf for a D-man. |

Lazerus is actually suggesting that this will make it so the hawks can now sign oduya. Can't confirm whether or not he is tweeting while high though. |

DAL retaining 50% of Butt's salary.. Guess that means they can bury him in the AHL if needed |

Ok, we differ on opinion on this, lets revisit convo in the season.
Also maybe Daley could get flipped?
If Garbutt's $1.8m retained by Dal, there's Kruger's contract..... |

I think the massive spate of injuries were looked at as problematic… of course, TVR has had many injuries…
Maybe it's just the cap reality and Bowman is doing all he can to trade a few million at a time… I can't believe he doesn't flip Garbutt and possibly Daley. |
