Maybe the one-way part was a mistake, sure, but you can't argue with the results of signing him to that deal. How many Hobey finalists or top level college free agents or international players have chosen Chicago in the wake of that deal? You could even argue that Raanta and Panarin and Tikhonov are a result of the Hawks' willingness to throw money at any player they can find and see what sticks. - Sandus
The point is they don't pick Chicago becasue of how much they can make in the AHL because almost always they don't make much money...
LeBlanc won the Hobey Baker but his skills didn't extend to being close to NHL levels...That's a msitake in judgement and thatn happens.
But to sign a young kid to make over $1 million for two seasons in the AHL is poor buisness. Teams can't afford to do that not even the Hawks...It sets a bad standard because the kid next to LeBlanc who is making 85% or so less winds up being better and has to bust his as s everyday to do so.
Check and see what the players you have mentioned have earned in the AHL and you wil understand why you are on the wrong side. When Raanta first signed up to come to Rockford his salary was $70,000 and supposedly he was heavily recruited. |

Really? Is that your definition or one that is widely accepted within the hockey community?
Also. Your fundamental flaw is not knowing what one dimensional means. - TTtime
haha, drop the "Kane is a 200ft player" to a fan of any other team and see their reaction

Ok I will clarify.
it was stated that Kane isnt aloof in his own zone like OV. All i did was point out OV is not like that any more.
Both have gotten better on the defensive side of the puck than they were, but they are both still one dimensional players.
Neither are 200ft players. There is a difference in evolving from standing round and routinely flying the zone to being engaged in the play finally than there is to the players labeled "200ft players" - FourFeathers773
Kane is now better than average defensively but it took awhile.
Someone like Kane, and there aren't any as good, would need an oxygen tank strapped to his back to be a 200 ft player every shift.
The amount of time Kane has the puck in the offensive can be staggering and that also uses up a great amount of energy. |

Hitch would argue that possessing the puck is playing defense as you are preventing the puck from entering your defensive zone. |

What makes you think I care what any other team's fans think? I have watch just about every game he has played. I form my own opinions.
Seems more Hawks fans agree with me than you opinion. Those I trust. I know they watch him play on a more consistent basis.
I don't need Rangers' fans approval for my opinions. |

Well, there is that too. I don't think anyone is waiting for a Selke nomination for him. To say he doesn't play on his end of the ice is just plain wrong. He does. There are many times he is the first forward back. |

This is exactly correct. On turnovers Kane as gotten much better at backchecking and trying to get the puck back. Where he struggles is once the puck gets in his defensive zone and starts to get cycled. |

Asked and answered.
JJ is just fine. He is pretty fair and objective with everyone unless a line is crossed. Don't blame him for getting mad about the unwarranted hot garbage thrown his way by some posters.
US was a treat. He made his own bed with his wonderful comments.

The report said out 12 weeks which means he should be back about the time the season starts.

Sure, but it's also fair to assume Oduya has banked millions. To think he only has $4-5 million left after $22 million over the last ten years or so—and that's just team salary, forgetting endorsements and appearances (which Paul Bissonette probably only did for car dealers at best)— is probably off.
Oh yeah, and then there's investment income.
Johnny Oduya is likely a wealthy man by the standard used by 99.9% of the world, and 99% of the US. - John Jaeckel

I'm not sure if this is good news or bad news:
@MarkLazerus: Johnny Oduya's camp expects to make a decision, one way or the other, next week. He's been patiently waiting for #Blackhawks to clear space. |

TOR would be a mistake or just his last big contract (maybe)..... |

Define natives. Careful here, nurk and flyershorsehockey are ready to pounce. - TTtime
If people dont know who the natives are, they are new or visiting. The usual suspects. However, the natives was my play on a pun about the logo coupled with a popular saying to describe the detour this thread seems to have taken away from Blackhawk hockey.

Is this a hockey sense type issue?....he's wired for offensive hockey sense, not defensive. Maintaining possession - easy to understand for an offensive minded guy; immediate chase (back check) is easy to understand; understanding true defensive schemes and coverage when defending possession...uh what? isn't it time to line change? |
