Ok, so based on what do you think he can be that good?

When you take the PPG in the draft year of all other recent number one overall draft picks, Marner's production is consistent with guys like Stamkos and Tavares, and ahead of folks like Nugent-Hopkins, Yakupov and MacKinnon.

Put simply, in the majority of draft years, a guy like this would be in SERIOUS contention for being 1st overall. The production of his comparable peerss in the NHL following their draft year junior production would suggest that he has a solid chance of making those numbers.

You also have to weigh it against the people he's playing and the people they are playing. You forget Tavares scored over a goal per game at 16.

He's actually in Toronto helping with the Neuport Prospect camp. He hasn't spoken with Yzerman at all yet.

Ok, I hope he is in that class. He is smaller than all of them but maybe he can do it.

not if he wants a cup... he should take a look at what Chicago is doing now. They had their great core intact before those big cap hits came in.

Leave a little on the table and it's a Mil or 2 for somebody else..

As so they should. But this can't go on. It's unfair that a team us one of it's strengths to get better. Not like Phoenix buying whatshisnuts just so they can be at the cap floor. That's just brilliant management. (was it even Arizona? I can't remember)

29 other places not named Toronto, yes. But to be the prodigal son and return to bring this once storied franchise back to a semblance of it's former self? 10.45

I get why people say we didn't get enough but I am happy with the return. Kapanen playing the full year with the Marlies alongside Nylander will allow them to develop together. They both will become better 2 way players and both have a high skill set. I can't wait till both are ready for full time in the NHL.
