"Canucks GM Jim Benning said he’s still working to sign restricted free agents Sven Baertschi, Adam Clendening and Frank Corrado.

But he won’t be looking to re-sign pending unrestricted free agents Dan Hamhuis and Radim Vrbata this summer."

http://blogs.theprovince....mhuis-vrbata-this-summer/

interesting quote...if they are not going to be re-signed, I hope they are both flipped at the TDL. And i am a big fan of Hammer.

I think both could get great value.
adding 2 1st rd picks next year would be huge.

Before you get too excited, dont forget the key part being this Summer.

I find it hard to get excited about potential trades Benning is going to pull off, lowered expectations is always the safest route.

This summer is the soonest he can offer them a contract but can sign them up until they hit free agency..

There's a good article in the national post on some of the issues that have been talked about on here the last couple days

I wonder if JB has spoken to their agents? Could these guys do what Bieksa did - talk extension with the new club before waiving to go there? Complicate any plan JB may have?

If they won't be back, I want picks. Just want it handled properly.

When is JB going to trade Jensen for a pick?

I posted a cheap comment regarding him yesterday. Piling on the wasted pick wagon, but he may prove me wrong by some of the people who have seen him at Shawnigan.

Always like the underdog and I think WD said he had a real good attitude.

Who have the Sedins mentored anyways? Raymond? Kesler? Hansen? I can't think of any current young player?

Edit: It didn't work with Kassian

I think mgmt has a plan.
If the plan was to resign one or both of Hammer/Vrbata, i think that would have been done by now.
I think this suggests that both won't be resigned.
My point was that i hope they are convinced to accept trades (due to No trade clauses) and we get a good return. The alt being they walk or have their rights traded for peanuts.

I think it's for the best; otherwise he would probably sign them for 5 years 7 mill each.

This guy thinks every move the Canucks have made is a dud. Always has always will.

Watch the narrative change if the Canucks win a majority of their games in October.

I hear you and hope that they are both traded for a good return, but I certainly don't expect it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hamhuis is resigned, like it or not this team has very little coming down the pipeline in terms of defense. Hamhuis if healthy would garner a great return at the TDL.....but I thought that many former Canucks should of gotten a better haul so until it happens I will assume it will be underwhelming.

So are Gaunce, Jensen and Shinkaruk considered busts at this point? Never hear a thing about Gaunce or Shink specifically in nucks future plans.

I think you are confusing the current camp with the young stars and main camp which those players will all likely be part of.

Gaunce had an excellent season this year in Utica and IMO is a sure fire NHLer but not sure about where he will play positionally or in the depthchart.

Shink was really up and down this season and while he clearly has talent he needs to learn a lot still.

Jensen gets poop on a lot and likely will have to impress this season to stay in the org. I personally thought he looked good every game I saw and played very responsibly, he is really inconsistent as a scorer though.

Don't think you are listening... Green said Gaunce made some strides this season in Utica, the audio might still be there on 1040 web site. Some other interviews on there too.

I think Jensen is the biggest question mark. I don't think they like his effort level and inconsistency. He was benched a bit in the playoffs but also scored a little too. I don't think management is a fan of his style. Not hungry enough, change in scenery needed?

When Jensen played a little with the twins, I thought he didn't really look out of place once he got a few shifts under his belt and then was sent back down. Guessed at the time he must have missed some defensive assignments or it was Torts playing mind games.

I tend to disagree a bit, and before people start insinuating that Benning has stated he's not going to sign Hamhuis or Vrbata...he's saying he doesn't have plans on doing so this summer...fall, winter and spring are different from summer.

Now this isn't saying he will sign them, he will probably try to make a deal. But if he is dumb enough to say he has no plans on resigning them ever, well there goes his bargaining position
