Yeah, I can't see it happening. I'm not sure why people are linking Ehrhoff and the Wings together.

The thing is IMO they still need someone to replace Ericsson...so while they need to clear defenseman I think they still need to bring one back the other way.mthats why if they traded Ericsson, Quincey and Jurco for a guy like vrbata (as an example) then signed Ehrhoff they could be set ... Then the problem is you have too many top 6 forwards... But Kronwall Ehrhoff, DD Green, Marchy Smith is probably exactly what you want on defense. Otherwise it's complicated. So I will be interesting to see how they dump Dmen without picking up a top 6 guy forward. It's possible they dumb Ericsson and Quincey and Jurco for a guy like hamhius (who I heard isn't resgning) giving us kronwall, Hamhius, DD, Green, smith, Marchy and then kindl as 7 which wouldn't be bad either

I like your thinking but I can't see the Wings giving up on Jurco. Jurco performed well for Blashill in the AHL and I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a good shot this season. In my opinion, the league has moved to needing 3 solid scoring lines and 1 checking line.

As I'm trying to write out lines I'm noticing the Wings have 10 NHL ready top 9 forwards, assuming everybody is healthy.

Helm-Datsyuk-Tatar
Zetterberg-Richards-Abdelkader
Nyquist-Sheahan-Pulkinnen/Jurco

I really see Nyquist as a 3rd line winger and a 1st line power play guy. His #'s support it and there's nothing wrong with it. The guy can produce on the PP and we need that.

To me you can't have Helm and Abby in the top 6. They have the forechecking and grit needed but they dont put up enough points. Abby has shown he can put the puck in the net when given the chance so to me he stay. Helm however is not deserving of top 6 minutes. He doesnt get enough points to be given that slot. The guy is so fast and would absolutely dominate the third line which is where he should be

Tatar-Pav-Abby
Nyquist-Richards-Z
Helm-Shea-Jurco
Miller-Glen- Pulks/Andy/Ferarro

The only reason I say Jurco gets traded is because he seems like the odd man out. It doesnt seem right to but Pulks on the fourth line because he can't play that role and neither can Jurco so one of them gets traded imo. I like Jurco cause he's big and I think he can be a good player but I think that's why I'd use that value as trade bait. We have guys like Larkin, Mantha, Athanasiou, Bertuzzi who are ready to come in anyways and thats already too many. Pulks is gonna have to show he can be bigger (or at least play bigger) and find space because basically without that slap shot he isnt much...and there isn't space like the AHL.

To me Jurco, Pulks, Oulette (not RH and he is small), Ericsson, Quincey should all be trade bait..if we need a good roster player I'd trade Nyquist because he has shown he can be shut down a little too easily at times. If they could dump two Dmen ++ to get a guy to replace Ericsson I would love that. Or as I said trade a guy like Nyquist with Ericsson and Kindl for a guy like Eberle/Nash/Vrbata and then pick up Ehrhoff

Eberle-Pav-Abby Kronwall/Ehrhoff
Tatar-Rich-Z DD/Green
Helm-Shea-Jurco Marchy/Smith
Miller-Glen-Ferarro

Trade: Ericsson, Quincey, Pulkinen and Nyquist for Eberle + (maybe picks)

To me that would clear some roster clutter and give us an all star RH forward along with an upgrade over Ericsson. If this was NHL 15 this is what I'd do

Eric tangradi? Did we really need him. I suppose depth is always good. But he's certainly never performed well in the nhl vs ahl

I like the way you're thinking but Ericsson, Quincey, Pulkinen, AND Nyquist would be an over payment for Eberle.

I think you'd be able to get a top 4 defenseman AND a top 6 forward in two different packages for the four players you listed as trade bait. You might have to throw in a draft pick to make it happen but I could see those four doing the trick in two separate packages.

I'm still holding my breath for Kevin Shatenkirk. Imagine our defense if we added Shatenkirk to the fold.

Just trying to find ways to get a scoring winger and a top 4 dman while also moving out more roster than we take in lol hence the "eberle ++" as I was assuming they would send us draft picks in return. But yes shattenkirk would be an unreal pick up so maybe he would be a defenseman we trade for...problem is as I said think we still need a top 6 scoring winger. However with a full lineup helm is likely 3rd line anyways which is good to me. I just figured if I'd trade someone for an upgrade in the top 6 I'd be Nyquist. Even though I really like the kid. What do you think about kovalchuuck wanting to come back.....might be a steal...he seems like a cancer but man is that guy talented. With the right coaching he might just be an all star again
