All gone for brandon prust.
- pker2theend

With Prust and Burrows on our roster I can't see too many calls going our way.

Our PK will be tested.

Willie says it might be a year or two before the Canucks get some of the guys from Utica, but there are some good prospects.

Nice expensive UFA's to fill the void

Willie worries me
Seems like he wants a say in who is on the team. Could find himself looking for a job sooner rather then later.

I wasn't a hater, wanted him to hit more. He did drive to the net a bit and didn't seem afraid to play in the corners. I liked him on the pk and his skating.

I understand the desire to win and keep making the playoffs. But that short term goal can hinder long term success when you stick with old core options on the pp, pk and just limiting opportunity in general for youth, prospects and unknowns.

Thought it was a mistake that Sanguinetti never got a chance with the Canucks and he sounded like he could be just as good as Weber offensively.

Matthias got very limited pp time. Same as Kassian. Even Horvat should have gotten some 2nd unit pp.

It isn't so bad when the vets are leading the way and putting up points but that hasn't been the case.

Vey, Sven & Bo will need to shoulder that responsibility. Vrbata won't be happy if he's on the 2nd line again.

I don't mind the coach having some input in roster decisions. We saw with Torts what happens when a coach and the roster are incompatible. Benning proved with Horvat that he will overrule WD when needed.

Letting Matthias walk without even offering a 1 year $2mil contract seems funny. If Matthias didn`t garner any interest at last years tdl, while having a career year... why not offer a contract on the lower end of the spectrum. I think at 2 million that still would be a raise.

But hey, if he isn`t the type of guy or character guy JB wants on the team then I guess JB isn`t going to lose any sleep with him signing with the Leafs.

With Matthias, I thought I remembered a JB quote about Boston trying to acquire him from the Panthers. He has a career year and it's like, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. Maybe the Canucks jersey lessens the value of the player wearing it regardless of performance?

A coaches job is to coach. Players still have to make the team. He can't just follow management blindly.

Our PK was the only consistently great part of the team last season. I'm not too worried about it, I just expect to see a lot of it.

He has no choice, he's below them. If he doesn't he will be fired. You think if he said no to Horvat and Van was terrible he would still be here this year?

Kassian and Bieksa were 2nd and 3rd in pims behind Dorsett. Not sure how many of Dorsett's were fighting majors vs minor penalties.

I'd guess Prust will fill the void in pims, just hoping there will be more fighting majors than minor penalties there too.

I always say trade Higgins, but when he is gone, he will leave a big hole on our pk unit.

Richardson, Kassian and Matthias was a really good line.

Injuries ruined it.

We'll see. Corrado and Clendenning will be two new young faces and neither should be a huge downgrade on Bieksa. The Canucks are getting younger, but it's bit by bit, not all at once.

No Richardson, Could use another center to take that time. Bonino was a big part he is still here but the other center was Richardson. Eakin is much cheaper, I choose him.

I agree, I've always thought he would be one that would stay as he in an inexpensive veteran who won't hurt you, but he needs to be used properly in the bottom 6, not top.

With his size he only had 16 pims he plays less physical than women's hockey. There obviously was no interest in him at TDL. He's a wussy and now a Leaf, perfect fit.

I wonder if they plan to move another D, if he wants Corrado and Clendenning on the squad, is he planning to carry 8D all season? Having them sit in the pressbox isnt going to help them further develop and they cant go down without waivers
