Because they don't tie all their cap space in old mediorce players - VANTEL

Benning did say he wants to be in that sort of position next year to be in that position to take a run at high end UFA s.
Hamhuis Vrbata and Prust is close to 12 mil in space and if you can move Burrows and Higgins that is 19 mil
I think he meant having cap space to sign Lucic |

Yeah it's a good idea if those FA's make it to market. The last couple of FA's classes have been rather weak. |

That's a lot of money for a 23 year old. Tarasenko signs.
I also did not know that Boston kept 2.75 of Lucic;s contract |

I have a gut feeling him and Lucic have talked. He did say before they did discuss an offer for Milan . Instead of selling the farm , he may have said I will wait a year. Guys like Ladd are available too. |

I would have gave him that all day long. Kid is amazing |

Well they have an entire year to get to Free agency. Ladd extension is "coming soon" as I had said before but big buff could be traded since talks aren't going well. He wants 7.5 per season range. |

There are two different recipes there, but yeah, nothing that would appeal to a purest. - CubanBuffet
Purest recipe? 1/3 Ground pork, 2/3 lean ground beef, 1 egg, worstershire sauce, coarse salt, pepper, bread crumbs or similar and whatever else that may appeal to the purist.
can also add stuff like- curry powder, mustard, garlic, minced onions, green bell peppers and whatever was in those other recipes.
I have been on a bit of a bbq chicken drumstick binge this summer.
Toss the drumsticks in a large bowl with a little olive oil and worsterwhatever sauce (love that stuff), and add pepper, salt, poultry seasoning (rosemary, sage, savoury, - anything you would season turkey with...), onion powder, garlic powder and curry powder. toss with all the dry spices and try to get everything coated up. stick this in the fridge for a few hours or overnight, take it out a bit before putting on the bbq. Start out on the grill for a 5 or 10 minutes and then move it to the upper rack for about 30 minutes and then give it a try (about 40 mins or a little longer total). Med+ setting on bbq. |

Trade Vrbata for a pick. - VanHockeyGuy
If he doesn't trade away some players at the deadline, and Vancouver doesn't make the playoffs that will be very bad for Benning's job security.

If we are not in the playoffs and not even close, he will move some players.
What scares me is if they are close but just out of it, what will happen? What would FA expect him to do? Continue to push for a playoff spot, going for the revenue and hold onto guys like Vrbata? Or throw in the towel and get as many picks as possible?
Thinking most on here would say get the picks... What would ownership want? |

The way he played in the playoffs I am not surprised.
But the leafs are smart they are going to flip him at the deadline.
People saw right through his inflated numbers

If they are +/- 5 points at the trade deadline I can't see them moving anyone out which would make next summer eerily similar to this summer. |

Were there reports last week he turned down a three year offer from Canucks?
Even if Canucks are close to playoffs they should be sellers , they would be round one exits again.
I personally don't think they are close , so the sooner they clean house the better |

If they are basing their decisions on last year's playoffs, the Sedins, Horvat, Tanev and Hamhuis would be the only Canucks left. Everyone else was either bad or hot garbage. |

I never liked bbq'ing chicken before, too many flame ups. But I found doing most of the cooking on the upper rack, still getting the heat but with less flame, results in less burnt skin. You can be away from the bbq doing prep. messing around in the yard while just keeping an eye out for too much smoke. |

It's a good idea. Probably keeps them jusier too. Right now we're doing everything that we can to avoid using the stove or oven. We even bought a cheap pot and made a batch of Chili on the BBQ the other day. |

IDEALLY: Vrbata nets 25 or higher, and flip him for a first or second.

As an aside, I highly recommend smoked paprika. It gives your food that smoked flavour without having to use a smoker. |

Keep loading up on 4th liners that play 10minutes a game. Could use someone who is physical who plays 18 minutes a game. Backes had 227 hits last season and St. Louis seems to be going in a different direction. Ability to play Center or wing. - manvanfan
Actually Backes might be a good fit here. He disappears in playoffs but has good reg.season #s so should fit in very well here...since we aren't gonna see the PO's for 3-4 years anyways. |
