Yeah, we already got Morin back. Too bad J.Hayes signed with NYR or we could get the old gang back together. What's Dylan Olsen doing these days?
 - EbonyRaptor
Send Morin to Boston. Pretty sure after seeing that contract for Hayes, the Hawks can get Pastrnak for him. |

Would Chevy do that? Is Armia having problems? I'd take Armia for Sharp. - tredbrta
I really don't know.. just per speculation. Just going by JJ's blog, the only young guy I think the JETS may be willing to move would be Armia. |

Pass. Armia hasn't looked all that great playing in the A. - EKolb13
So he is out of favor.
That is a best case IMO for Versteeg and would be a great return. High upside physically but distressed asset in a crowded system.
Lemieux or Ehlers for Sharp would be very nice. I would hope Ehlers or Morrisey would need to come back in a deal for Crow. |

Emelin has too high AAV - Objective is cap relief - not return value. I'd rather have Oduya than Emelin and hopefully for less. - EbonyRaptor
In agreement with you about Emelin having too high an AAV and it sorta defeats the purpose (shedding salary), but I would have said the same thing receiving Anisimov in the Saad deal ( and his subsequent extension). I suppose it's a different scenario -- Bowman wanted to solidify the center position and apparently likes the player -- but at this point, we all best keep gently scratching our heads and admit that anything is quite possible. |

JJ. I signed up for an account today for the sole purpose of saying "thank you" for being an active and insightful blogger. It's so hard to find good information out there, and even on a good forum like hockeybuzz, a lot of the contributors are half-assed and are pulling stuff you can read in the Sun Times.... So yeah man... Thanks for being on top of your game. We always look forward to your posts. - ozzygod1

If as you say JJ, that they can only move Sharp and Versteeg "they may need to trade Crawford" Can they not buyout Bickell, have an extra $3m this year and keep CC? - Hawkeyes1
Can someone clarify whether or not teams can still buyout a player. There was conversation stating buyouts had to happen before July 1st - is that true? If Bickell can still be bought out (of put on LTIR if he's still injured) - than that would be a $2.5M cap relief right there.

In a heartbeat - BetweenTheDots
On behalf of the Detroit Red Wings I will have to pass on Sharp for DeKeyser.
Would you be interested in Brendan Smith, Jonathan Ericsson, Kyle Quincey or Jakub Kindl?
Wings could include a 2nd round draft pick and mid-level prospect offensive or defensive prospect. |

True, but if Stan has to take back salary in either of the Sharp/Bickell trades, then he probably has to trade all three or else have to trade Crawford or Shaw or ??? - EbonyRaptor
Fair point, but I'm not going to worry about it until something else happens. Bowman still needs to move some big salary. |

I know the DPS is having some issue so I will repeat it.
I said.
Detroit keeps Kindl and the Hawks will keep the 1M. Meaning they DON'T retain any salary. |

Yeah, the Anisimov extension is a real head scratcher. It must be Stan really expects him to play extremely well with the Hawks where $4.55M would be considered a good deal after next season. I think that's a bad gamble myself. I like Anisimov as a player but there is nothing I've seen that says good 2C worth $4.55M. Hopefully Stan will be proven right.

Welcome. Second your message. - tredbrta
Yes, THANKS to JJ.
And ALSO to the regulars here who are just as important to making it work.
I came out of hockey board "retirement" during the playoffs since this is the first respectable, insightful, and cordial (mostly) Hawks message board in a long time. I've read here since Al's days, but had not posted in years. I blogged during the dark ages and used to post on the Blackhawks official message board before the NHL disabled that functionality. It can be a thankless endeavor and the flame-wars and trolls were out of control. I've been lucky to meet a lot of good folks and great contacts over the years. But JJ and the rest here are first class.
And a shoutout to MexicoHawk who has been a fantastic addition. |

No way.
I'd like to see Sharp in the Winged Wheel but not at the expense of Abdelkader.
Would the following trade work for the Hawks?
Hawks send Sharp + 1m retained salary to Detroit
Detroit sends 2016 2nd Rd Pick, Jakub Kindl, and Dominic Turgeon? - RedDog18
Assuming the Abdelkader proposal was a wish. Your deal sounds realistic but not sure Kindl's salary would fit (Kindl could be traded easily though to clear the space)... Sounds like a fair deal for both sides. Would like Pulkinnen over Turgeon but would take Bertuzzi.

If Q is staying, then this team needs C's. They already lost two, need to keep a couple at wing, and one hasn't signed yet. So, technically, you have Toews, Shaw, Desjardins, aaaaaannnd maybe Danault?
So, now you have two locked up. One at a franchise deal and one at a hopefully going rate for two-way Cs. Sure, it looks weird when butted up against the trade for Saad, but I think it's actually cap-friendly for years. |

I don't think that much, he will be 31 when the new contract kicks in. I would think (nae hope) 7M gets it done. |

Great question...it remains a mystery.
If 8-9M not sure if the Hawks can keep him without a significant cap increase next year. |
